Guest guest
& Judith, Please could you share the documentation & diagnosis codes with me as well? We live in Georgia and my 25 yr old son had a severe brain injury over 2 yrs ago. We have done 80 HBOT treatments in Florida with us paying for it. I want to continue in Georgia and make use of Medicaid reimbursement if possible. I do not know the proper channels to follow. I have tried talking to Medicaid about it in the last month, but only got very vague answers. My fax is 706-494-4166. Thanks. Guest guest
Marguerite: Continue the treatments if at all possible. My husband had a brain tumor, 9 brainsuregeries, meningitis, was in a coma for 7 weeks, ICU 16 weeks and had a stroke due to a fall which required 2 more surgeries...the doctors never gave me much hope, but HBOT astonished everyone and he progressed to a functioning adult..brain injury does damage and complete recovery is not usually the case, but HBOT can help him to get as much back as possible...its nurishing the brain and helping to get the neurons firing strongly again, opens up passages, my husband did probably 300 treatments in all and I would be doing them today expect for the money. the gov't doesn't recognize it as a treatment and neither does traditional insurance as far as I know. Do you have a church family you could call on, could you do a community fund raiser? I hope you can continue the treatments. Guest guest
Leanne, We have seen significant improvements in cognitive areas such as verbal skills & language. His increased tone has been helped somewhat. We were hoping to help his right visual field cut and his slow processing, but haven't seen much improvement yet in those areas yet. He has had 80 sessions. We want to go for 40 more in a few months. Marguerite ________________________________________________________________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Guest guest
Tyne, Yes..we want to continue the HBOT if at all possible. We have had one fund raiser so far and am relying on a long time family friend to have another fund raiser in a few weeks. Our church family has helped us also. My husband & I both work and it is hard to get the time away from work to travel to Florida for a month for each set of 40 treatments.. That is why I would like to be able to do this closer to home plus take advantage of the Medicaid reimbursement if possible. There is a hospital right in our town that does HBOT for wounds, but not neurological reasons. I might be able to convince them to do neurological if I could afford them...each treatment is $1600.00 whereas the treatments in Florida are $125.00 each Marguerite ________________________________________________________________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Is your son a Medicaid recipient? Do you have documentation of the $1600/treatment price tag? Has this hospital sent you a letter stating they will not treat your son with HBOT because he has a brain-injury? Can you fax me a copy of this documentation? My fax # is 815-366-7962. Guest guest
, We live in Fortson, Ga (Columbus). Yes, Shane is a 25 yr old TBI Medicaid recipient. No I have no documentation...just verbal conversations with both the facility and Medicaid. This all took place last spring...probably March or April..I am wanting to try again with them since Mediciad has approved HBOT for brain injury because of your efforts in Aug. But I want to have all my ducks in a row with proper documentation...this is where I need help, to make sure I do everything correctly. In the meantime we took Shane to Destin/Ft Walton, Fla for his 80 treatments at a clinic run by Dr Zant in May-Aug. How do I get them to put this all in writing? I really want to be able to have his future treatments here in Columbus if possible. Thanks, Marguerite McKinney ________________________________________________________________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Then, only $9.95/month!
