Sometimes I know that when we took Giovani, it was told to us that they would watch him to see how he was doing with the ATA they chose, to see if he would tire at 2 times a day and need to go down to 1.... Guest guest
My daughter was premature and had strabismus and strabismus surgeryat age 2. At age 6, when the OT spun her, she saw disturbances in the surgery eye. I don't know what they call it or if it is something that Visual therapy helps with. It may have been previously present but undetected. Just a thought. Sue Vosberg <pvosberg@...> wrote:I know that when I took my son for treatments they said that some eye disturbances could occur. Guest guest
My son, Dawson, had both nystagmus and strabismus. We have been doing a neurodevelopmental program with The Family Hope Center in Pennsylvania. He never had (and never will have) surgery and his strabimus in his right eye is GONE and his strabismus in his left eye is very difficult to detect any longer. Of course, the nystagmus makes the strabismus more difficult to see. Honestly, it is my " humble " opinion that strabismus is ALWAYS the responsibility of the brain. I'm yet in my research to hear of anyone with deformed eye muscles. I'm also yet to hear of a successful strabotomy. Eventually, they always fail. This is because the muscles were never the problem, it has been the brain right along. I'm REALLY interested in the discussions regarding vision and HBOT. Vision is the easiest and usually the FIRST thing hurt neurologically and often the most difficult and LAST to repair. We did ONE hour of HBOT in September and Dawson's nystagmus and strabismus were completely still and straight for about 15 minutes afterward. For this reason, we're doing 46 in January. Dawson has progressed from less than 50% of normal function at 10 months old (and we don't ask a 10 month old to do that much) to 91.3% of normal function as of September. We are really hoping that adding HBOT to our neurodevelopmental program will seal the deal for him. We begin our treatments on January 3rd. I will certainly update everyone when we return home at the end of January. Vision and HBOT is very interesting to me. Also, has anyone else had success combining HBOT with other therapies? It does seem that supporting a therapy with the oxygen could be pretty powerful---just from a mother's point of view. Oh yes, Dawson's injury stems from a true knot in his umbilical cord---fyi. If anyone would like to see the pictures showing Dawson's dramatic visual improvement, email me privately and I'll send them. I never have success putting them on . Donna Mom to 20 (serving mission in Spain), Katy 18 (leaving for BYU), Preston 15, Annie 13, Kent 12, Callie 8 (cured from dyslexia), Carson 6, Dawson 4 (brain injured--was severe now 91.3% of well!)
