Dear Bill Duncan, your friendly neighborhood congressional staffer.

>Treatments past 80 are beneficial but it takes more

>finesse to keep problems from happening than the first 80.

I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF THESE SO CALLED PROBLEMS HAPPENING AFTER

THE FIRST 80 TREATMENTS AT SUCH LOW PRESSURES OF 1.5 TO 1.75.

We have done over 1,000 treatments and the only thing that is happening is

our son is getting better everyday.

If we had stopped at 80 he would only be saying about 50 single words, he

now speaks in full sentences. We had my daughters 13th birthday party at a

skating rink today and he told me, " I have my birthday party at skating. "

Just a

year ago he couldn't have put that many words together, he didn't even

understand what was going on.

I don't understand what you guys are trying to sell to people. If I did it

your way,40 here and 40 there and long breaks there is no possible way we

would be where we are. When we take one week off for vacation we see a

significant decrease in improvement. We however NEVER see a loss of

improvement since we passed the first 300. In the beginning he would take 2

steps forward and one step back with each break. He just slows his progress

now.

>Oxygen is pretty stressful and causes some fatigue and >the brain just

needs a break

WHAT!!! THAT IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS STATEMENT I HAVE EVER HEARD. OXYGEN

GIVES YOU ENERGY, TRY IT AND TELL ME YOU DON'T FEEL BETTER AND HAVE MORE

ENERGY THAN BEFORE. THE BRAIN GETTING A BREAK FROM OXYGEN IS WHAT CAUSED

THE TROUBLE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

>AGAIN, I HAVE NEVER ACHIEVED THE LEVEL >OF FUNCTION I HAD IN THAT FIRST

WEEK.

Bill Duncan, your friendly neighborhood congressional staffer, I think you

are selling yourself short. With all the writing you seem capable of doing

I think your brain function is just fine.

Love to all the parents on this list trying to save their childrens' lives.

Do it. Do lots of it. Don't let anyone make you believe you should stop

doing it. Hyperbaric Oxygen is safe at low pressures. The greatest risk to

your child is not doing it. Yes, there are some high risk children who will

need a doctor present but their only hope at life is oxygen. The only way

you will make your child well is to do it. The younger the better.

>he sees a

> lot of patients who have been over treated.

I would like to know (not who they are as that would violate doctor/patient

confidentiality) but what you are talking about. What are their symptoms,

can you or anyone else prove they are caused by too much oxygen? Is it

maybe possible things are just changing? What number constitutes the use of

the words: " a lot " ?

We have had Eddie do different things during his 4 years of doing HDOT (High

Dosage Oxygen Treatments) and one could have probably said it was caused by

too much but we know changes in his brain are happening. We work through

each change and never give up. We just keep working on him and he keeps

changing. Changing, meaning getting better, understanding more, talking

more, enjoying life more, interacting more and the list goes on and on.

I am sorry, but everytime someone gets on these list telling parents to do

only 40 or 80 and take it sssslllllllooooowwww it makes me sick. Time is

their enemy. I would give the world to have found out about this when my

child was younger. If they go slow it will be too late to make most of

their children completely well without doing 1,000s of treatments and even

then it may not work. But I know and every doctor on this list knows that

the younger they are the better results will be seen.

So stop telling people that >>

Slower is better and breaks are

> important.

because I know you can't prove that. Not one person has done enough

treatments to prove that. No, I can't prove my way is better either, but my

way is not going to hurt anyone. One hour a day of oxygen at 1.5 ata is

only going to help almost every brain injured kid out there.

I will say it again to the parents out there, don't let anyone scare you

away from helping your children.

How long can you go without food? How long can you go without water? Now

the big one!!! How long can you go without oxygen?????

Love to all,

Rose Manning

Rose,

Thank you, very well said.

I think the real fact is that if people realize they need to do " lots " more

than 80 treatments they will buy their own chamber. This bunch is scared to

lose the revenue. From what I understand if they need over 80 treatments it

will just about pay for a chamber?

It is becoming more clear. Thanks.

Rose: See Dr. Harch's article on dosage on the IHMA CD. If you don't have

one, we'll be glad to get one to you. I'm very glad your son is doing

better. Dr. Harch has treated many people past 80 treatments, but he sees a

lot of patients who have been over treated. Slower is better and breaks are

important. I well remember how tired I got during my forty treatments. I

am glad your son had excellent success. You are fortunate to have a chamber

available that you could obtain 1,000 treatments. I'm looking forward to my

next forty. Bill Duncan

Ah, , so cynical. I don't own any interest in any clinic. I do

believe that parents should not be forced to pay for these out of their

pocket, that they should have local access, trained physicians who know how

to do it right, and it should be paid for just like setting your broken leg.

If given acutely, immediately after the accident or hypoxic event, evidence

shows that five treatments will work wonders if given within hours of

injury. Otherwise we can work for years and hundreds of treatments for

small gains.

If there is local access, physicians refer patients for treatment, or treat

in emergency rooms, no one needs to buy home chambers except for those many

instances where they are warranted. They'll be regularly prescribed items,

just like power wheel chairs, and again, all of the portable chamber

manufacturers will be selling so many to the potential market that a

portable will cost less than 80 treatments.

That is what we are working for, hyperbaric medicine as standard of care in

two to five years, for acute and chronic patients everywhere, paid for by

the regular medical system so people don't have to pull $10,000 out of their

retirement like I did to have my son treated. (My hyperbaric treatment,

interestingly enough, was paid for by my insurance. No chamber purchase was

therefore necessary.)
