The amount can vary as much as 3,000 percent among various fruits and vegetables.

The lesson for us: Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables every day because they have literally thousands of obscure antioxidants, many of which have not been fully explored. And don't eat too much of those highest in antioxidants because in large amounts they can be poisonous. Here are the top winners: Fruit--prunes, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raisins; Vegetables--kale, beets, and red bell peppers.
