Guest guest
Hi Janine, Those spasms are symptoms of coordinated discharges (normal electrical activity should be of the uncoordinated type). When such discharges are stronger, and generalize, we see a seizure. Hyperbaric sessions may help to uncoordinate and stabilize electrical activity, but excessive pressure and oxygen does the opposite. Each person has its own threshold, but there are general guidelines. Now, some complementary/alternative concepts and remedies: ....but, first, can you tell us if there is any circadian pattern (definite times of the day, or after any activity, like sleep, feeding, etc)?} Some organs (stomach, intestines, kidneys) can be the seat of the starting impulse, through the autonomic nervous system. It is important to identify and treat the edgy organ, instead of putting all the blame on the central nervous system only. Food intolerances may also be involved in the irritation of an organ or system. Unfriendly foods should be singled out and excluded. An unspecific remedy to calm the ANS down may be homeopathic Belladonna, in diverse dilutions. The gut is helped with chamomile tea, castor oil hot pads, etc. Kidneys can benefit from horsetail (very small doses), hot pads, and so on. Any further questions (there should be some..), just ask. Guest guest
Hi, my daughter also had meningitis, sorry to say it sounds all to familiar. We went thru so many eeg's, but perhaps a spec. scan is more reveling? Please be careful (and I'm not saying this is the case), but while was laughing we found out that she was actually grimacing from seizures. My opinion the best news is your daughter is off seizure meds, for they can have terrible side effects. To find out more about - http://www.thejennyrosecenter.com page thru to our mission and click on more about . Perhaps we can talk more in the future. Best regards, [MedicaidforHDOT] spasms Hi, I usually don't talk to much on this list serve but benefit from reading the information that is posted on it. Thank you all!! My daughter Krysta (some of you I have met) is now 19 months old and has received 180+ hyperbaric treatments. She is no longer on any seizure med's and has had eeg's done that show no seizure activity but definate abnormalities. (She contacted menegitis at 4 days old.) My question is, she has spasms a few times a day. They tend to be regular where as they happen 4 seconds apart where her whole body reacts and it's almost like a twitch, this lasts for about 3 - 5 minutes. I know I talked with a few doctors about this at the 3rd Sympossim and they saw the spasms and they called them just that. I had an eeg done after that but of course she didn't do the sequence ones that she does, just little spasms. I am just wondering if any one has any experience or knowledge of what this is and if there is something we can do for them. They don't seem to bother her, she usually laughs thru it. (Which is something she never did till after hbot (laugh) . Are these seizure or just spasms, or something else in the nervous system causing them?? Any ideas, thoughts, or concerns would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again, Janine & Krysta Colorado Springs, CO
Guest guest
Thanks for the info, I also sometimes wonder if some of her laughing espically when she spasms is seizure related. I know others are not. I haven't had the chance to go to your web site yet, but hopefully we will be able to chat more in the future. How old is and how is she doing now? Janine & Krysta J9V@... Guest guest
is now 11 and has come a tremendous way. She does not have seizures any more, but is still on small dosages of depacote. She is walking well and has been interacting over the last several years. A few months ago we did more HBOT and we believe as a result she no longer needs to wear her glasses. amazing to me, for she has always had glasses! We have not done anything extra ordinary recently, so other then GOD it has to be HBOT. Either way where grateful. Within my studies of HBOT I read that this happens sometimes and also could revert, but so far so good. One other important thing that helped was the Ketogenic diet, perhaps you may want to look into this?
