A benefit will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, for an 8-month-old child who

suffered brain damage after contracting meningitis. The fundraiser will

benefit Krysta Marie Vitetta, granddaughter of Lillian Snyder, a

longtime resident of Crestwood.

Krysta, who lives in Colorado with her parents, contracted meningitis

when she was 4 days old and suffered brain damage. She now needs an

expensive treatment, called hyperbaric oxygen, which rejuvenates dormant

brain cells. The treatment is not covered by insurance carriers in the U.S.

* The benefit will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Ramada Inn, 300 S.
