Guest guest
Hello, I thought I'd give you an update about my 2 year old son Graham, who has CP. (Former 26 week preemie, 13 ounces at birth.) He just completed his first set of HBO treatments with Dr. Harch. (53 treatments instead of 40 because he became ill at 17 treatments and he had to do extra to make up for lost momentum.) Graham's vocabulary has at least tripled! Before HBOT he could say approximately 45 words and was beginning to put 2 words together. His speech therapist is thrilled, he is saying sentences! Graham could not stack blocks or put Legos together because his back/trunk was so weak. Since HBOT he is much stronger and does not seem as fragile. He was entirely dependent on his walker only being able to take 2 steps unassisted. Now, they have stopped using his walker in the classroom of his special needs preschool. He can take about 20 steps unassisted and walks well holding someone's finger. His Physical Therapist told me that his spactisity is gone in one leg and much better in the other. We are now in the process of appealing our private insurance companies for the 3rd time. Missouri Medicaide will pay for HBOT, but our 2 private insurances won't. We have contacted a lawyer and he suggested that my husband and I divorce so that Graham can go on Medicaide and the HBOT will be paid for. The " system " is so broken, isn't it!!! God Bless You!
