Most likely your daughter's heart transplant was covered/paid for under

Paragraph 5, which should make it easier for you to access hyperbaric

oxygen for her now. HAve you discussed HBOT for her with her doctor?

Print out the two pdf files you received when you subscribed--one is an

explanation of the Medicaid law for children, and the 2nd one is a Georgia

court order for HBOT reimbursement and present them to your Medicaid case

worker.

The court order is a demonstration of how Paragraph 5 specifically applies

to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for brain-injury. In addition, on the

medicaid/files/ page you can download

references from several other states that are reimbursing HBOT under

Paragraph 5. You might want to download and print out these pages as well.

It has been my experience that Medicaid case workers do not like to make

decisions that might break new ground; however, if they see the legal

groundwork has already been laid from almost ten other states, more than

likely they will be comfortable approving your daughter for Hyperbaric

Oxygen Therapy.

It has also been my experience that the other thing caseworkers do not like

or want is any sort of conflict or confrontation. By denying you and your

child a treatment that should be paid for " whether it's covered by the

state plan or not " , they will be entering into a confrontation.

When you are approved and your daughter gets HBOT, please fax documentation

of this to 509/275-1618. With your permission I would like to post this

documentation on the medicaid/files/

page so that other parents could use your documentation to access HBOT for

their child.
