I have been out of my home since August of 2001 due to mold. My wife and my daughter, and our dog had medical problems related to the mold. We hired a company Mold Restoration Inc. out of Houston to do the remediation. Between them and our Insurance company (Farmers) they finally got a clean air test after us being out of the house over a year. My question is the mold company destroyed or thowed away over $10,000 dollars of property which the insurance refuses to cover. (Example.. They were only supposed to clean and hep vac the carpet, but they threw it all away. Also they threw away comodes, sinks, plus there were lots of other things the insurance company will not cover. The Mold company assured me they would take care of any loses and that they were insured. Well now they are in trouble with the State of Texas. All thier assets have been frozen. I understand someone is supposed to be appointed to oversee thier affairs. I am now living in a borrowed travel trailer while we try to redo our home. The insurance underpaid us so bad we had counted on the money from the Mold Restoration company to help to pay our rebuilding contractor. Now we are out of money, our home is partially rebuilt (Not Liveable) Two adults, my 17 year old daughter and our dog are being forced to live in a small borrowed travel trailer. We also have around $10,000 that farmers insurance owes us in replacement cost, but tell us we have to prove we have spent it first. They approved our rebuild at $38,000. The best we could get with a contractor was $61,000. I tryed to tell my Farmers adjuster that our signed contract proved we would spend the money, but he wanted us to have the home rebuilt before he would release the money. The home is about 50% rebuilt. If anyone out there can help or help tell us what our next move should be. Please help!!! Our contractor has agreed to continue to work, but slowly.. He needs more funds.Join Excite! - http://www.excite.comThe most personalized portal on the Web!
