Guest guest
Hi Georgina...thanks for your email.... Will is doing okay, but his L ankle is still giving him trouble....he limps a lot and its still swollen and restricted. We saw our rheumy and she thinks hes gotten all the benefit out of naprosyn as he is gonna get...so she is suggesting MTX...borage oil, or prednisone.....we are thinking of trying the borage oil....and MTX....I hate the sounds of prednisone.....We didn't think it would get this far...we had been so optimistic. He did have jt injections last Aug (2001) (great memory!) and it worked so well......almost a year. Now the aristospan is not available, (til 2004 we were told) and she doesn't want to use the other preparations...he also had a little atrophy at the ankle site and she doesn't want that to get worse. Because of the two reasons she is opting not to do the injections....So we are torn what to do now....I have a phone appt with our Rheumy today at 11am to discuss it..... thanks again for your concern...take care.... It must be very difficult for you. I remember those long nights and tearful mornings when was younger. In another message you mentioned that the doctor had talked about using steroids. had joint injections done a while back, right? If I'm remembering correctly, he had a really good response to them and was doing quite well afterwards. Did the doctor mean that they wanted to do more injections or was he implying that maybe should take oral prednisone for a short time, to bide him over this period of more active inflammation? Maybe that would be a good idea? It usually works really quickly. I wish there was more I could offer, in the way of support, but know that you and your family are in our thoughts and I do hope that feels better soon.
