explantation - black leakage

Hello all:

Well, I found out yesterday from the ps that there is a blackish gooey leakage from one of my implants. He isn't educated in what can happen with implants, so at first he thought it was betadine that had been injected into the implant. Then, he decided it wouldn't be betadine, but perhaps steroids which can be injected in an effort to avoid encapsulation. He has NO clue what he's talking about!

When I saw him prior to explantation, he told me he didn't believe silicone/saline could cause illness - that it hasn't been proven because women are not getting better following removal. And he's obviously never seen anything like the one he took out of me!

At any rate, my implants are being kept at the hospital's path department. I went to get them yesterday and they said they would give them to me, but that it would be better to have a lawyer send them a letter telling them to keep them indefinitely because they're involved in a legal action. Chain of evidence type of thing. So, I'm afraid to go get them - I don't want the manufacturer suggesting I stored them incorrectly, etc. At this time, I have no path report, but asked my doctor if I could get one. Does anyone know if I can ask the path dept to do tests for mold, algae, etc.? ANY suggestions would be appreciated!

I am getting help from Lany -- to whom I cannot thank enough. But if anyone else has some ideas, I'd like to hear any & all! I want to be educated so I can educate.

If anyone is on this list to consider implants - PLEASE, PLEASE don't do it! I'll see about getting pictures of mine & will gladly forward them to anyone & everyone so they can SEE what happens to these things inside our bodies!

hugs to all,

peg
