((((((((((((((Soli)))))))))))))))) sweetie no matter what your carreer is your a mom and that will show everytime i know its hard right now and your son is going through surgery soon take it one day at a time this disease works on these kids in different ways a couple of kids from the group have passed on in a year its very hard to cope when you realize the dangers of JRA and the what ifs come out then you have the WHY me why my child even though i do not discuss this with i will let her know how the kids are doing this subject is hard this disease hits these kids HARDER because its attacking the major organs also i may be too protective of but i have good reason to i allow her to do what she wants most times and enjoy hearing he laughing and talking cause in my heart i know there could come a time when i will have to walk down the same road that the little girls parents are walking down now dont sit back and take this fight this disease with all you can speak out for more research and tell the doctors HOW you feel but always remember when you care for these kids your doing it for you and your child you work with these kids and each one is different as you know love them enjoy them God lent us angels to teach and enjoy cherish the good times cause those will out weigh any bad times hold your son and hug every time you can and always say i love you those words mean the most

doctors dont tell a parent of the risks as this case but reading up on alot this is my worst fear now

and you can look at it this way god needed another angel shes in no more pain now and those she has touched her memory will live on she was a special angel shes running and playing now in heaven and watching over those who she has touched

like when my mom died i know in my heart shes watching over me i will never be able to hug her again though but i can tell her i love her wish i could be with you when your child goes through surgery i know the feeling of a child going through surgery and the not knowing sometimes i would rather be right in that surgery room just to sit and watch i would feel much better you keep this group informed about your child God only puts enough on a person that he can handle and your stronger when its over please if i can be of help email me privately Robbin40@...

Soili-

That is very sad news. On this list, we've had news of a couple deaths related to this disease or its medications. It's very sobering.I can understand why this has thrown you for a loop, with it being so close to home. Juho's surgery will go well -- have confidence in that. Hugs.

Soili - I am so sorry to hear the sad news. It is a jolt of reality for all

of us. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Michele

Sad news....

Hi everyone,

just this short message because I'm quite upset... we lost one our

little patients today, a girl of 7 who had Still's disease. She died

as a result of heart trouble and peritonitis... this happened in the

district university hospital ped. ICU, not in our hospital, but when

her dad called us (our rheumy) everything in the whole department

just stood still for the rest of the day. This is very unusual (Thank

God!) and it feels like impossible to go to work again tomorrow... I

have a drawing she made on my office wall... and on top of

everything my own son is about to have surgery on Friday. Now I feel

like I'm no professional, and can't really cope with this. This just

reminds me that jra is a serious disease and that we should really

try to find a cure...

Hope you all are doing well.

Love, Soili

Hi Soili:

I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I can understand why the whole department has felt the shock. Though she was not your child, or ours, we all feel touched by her loss. It is too close to home. And in your job, you would have known this girl, interacted with her, cared about her. I am sorry, your pain can be felt in the email you wrote... it must be very hard for you, and all you work with. My heart goes out to you all, to the little girl's family, too.

Hi Soili,

It is always a shock when one of our little fighters loses the fight. She

is at peace now watching over all the people who helped her along the way.

I know surgery can be scarey especially when its your own child, try

to think of the things you would tell another parent whos child is facing

surgery.I find it hard to follow my own advice at times.Im sure everything

will go great and in a few weeks your son will be up to his old antics

again. You will be in my thoughts.

Soili..so sorry to hear about the little girl. I wish her family and yours good wishes and hope and strength to go on.

Someone stated that the post hit close to home..I have always known there was a possiblility but I push it to the back of my head. The person in my family who had this passed away but that was generations ago..still would be sad..but there is alot more knowledge nowadays but always that chance..i guess...

Good luck with your sons surgery...you and your husband hang in there...you will have someone in your corner here in Pennsylvania!!

take care..karen(tab17..poly)
