Guest guest
Hey Gang! Hello to all and a big huge welcome to all the newbies! I have not been posting much of late because I have been so incredibly busy. I have survived yet another semester at the university. YIPPPEEE!!!!!!! Though my kids and FACES will keep me busy during the summer I have elected to take the summer off from classes so this means I will be posting a bit more regularly. Regarding FACES if there are any new folks to the list (or regulars) who wish to be added to the FACES mailing list just holler and the deed will be done. Also, I need to know if everyone who oredered KIDS Get Arthritis Too shirts has recieved them???? We have more on order for those who wish to order....To all I wish a great day filled with hope, health and happiness! I would like to place an order, but I'm not sure about the sizes. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Barb (mom to Chase, 8 w/systemic)

Subject: Flax Seed can't be cooked Hi Delores, Flax seeds are potentially very unstable. If cooked with intense heat, the nutritional content can be destroyed. They are more stable than the Flax Seed Oil, which is made from the flax seeds. The oil cannot be used for cooking.I am not certain which temperature it can tolerate, but that required for muffins is too high. The list serve flaxseedoil is very informative on the use of this important oil, omega-3 fatty acifds, that is often deficient in the modern diet. it might help a lot of people with epilepsy and other conditions. arnold Hiya Arnold and Delores Flaxseed meal has been used in baked goods for centuries. Flaxseed meal/flour is very stable. Flaxseed oil, however, is very fragile and needs careful storing after opening and should only be consumed well mixed into yoghurt, buttermilk, cottage or other cultured dairy products to make it bioavailable. THere is another group that is focused on flax flaxseedoil2-subscribe and flaxhealth-subscribe Hope this helps and thanks for the message on hyperventilation and seizures. mjh Charlie's Mom

I haven't tried to use the oil for baking or anything like that...NOW that you have told me that it can't be cooked..I won't try to experiment with it...CUZ it's just too EXPENSIVE to be wasting. I bought a bottle of the Flax & Borage Oil {Omega Twin} {tastes like you are licking a Saddle...}LOL IT is JUST PLAIN OL' Naaasty! I have read that it is also good for Skin disorders..which I have a bad case of Psoriasis... Which I have just been told by my GYN..that the redness on my face looks like the rash like Lupus. so I am going to be tested for that. Anyway...gonna finish up over here , get the gang dressed, and we are going over to myParents house to celebrate their 61st wedding anniverary. thanks again for letting me know NOT to cook with the Flax Oil. have a blessed Day Luv ya Dee Dee Plain flaxseed oil, once opened, needs to be refrigerated. It has a pleasant, light taste. Any strong or off taste suggests that it may be rancid. My son has been getting 3T of flaxseed oil mixed into yoghurt three times daily now for two years Most people need more Omega 3 fatty acds like in flaxseed oil and fish oil and fewer omega 6 and 9s.......
