Thanks Dianne - I think at this point I will just have to remind them at times

when he is having bad days - to keep it fresh.

Hey Christy,

Before you veto the Canadian move, you should know that some parts of Canada are even further south than parts (I don't mean Alaska) of the States. on Vancouver Island, for instance is certainly very moderate (lots of rain in the winter, though. My brother-in-law lives in Penticton in the Okanagan Valley in central British Columbia - and it is beautiful there, also very moderate. The winters are mild (yet less than an hour away he can enjoy great downhill skiing) without a lot of snow, and the summers are hot but not extremely so. He often teases us with the information that he'd been water-skiing in the morning (in May) and gone snow-skiing in the afternoon up at Big White, just for a change of pace!!! And where we live, in Southwestern Ontario, the winters are generally mild, not colder than -10° usually. It is kind of a damp cold, which can seem colder, but we rarely get anything below -20° and its usually just below freezing. Often just above freezing, which is a pain, for those of us who like to ski, skate, snowmobile, etc. But many parts of Canada are WAY more moderate than South Dakota sounds, I gotta tell ya!!

Georgina,

I am envious of your relaxed Hawaiian environment. Here in South Dakota,

children must have snowsuits and snow boots to leave the blacktop on the

playground. Having grown up on the Mexican border and slowly moved northward,

it has always been difficult for me to make sure my children were dressed

warmly enough. I have told my husband we are not moving any farther north

(most notably because of Abbie). Then last month he came home and said his

territory has changed to the entire country of Canada and the company wants

us to possibly move there in a couple of years. No offense to all the

wonderful Canadian members of this group, but I told him he had rocks in his

head. lol Last winters 50 below wind chills almost did me in. Everyone please

say a prayer for my sanity as winter approaches.

Thanks Lyn,

I had heard that, and have been told that Calgary is wonderful as well. I

guess most of my husband's " true stories " are coming from Manitoba, which I

am told is incredibly cold. I hope to do some traveling in Canada next

summer. Curtis and I have a dream vacation of taking the trans Canadian train

across the Rockies. One of these days. . .

Christy :)

Hi Diane,

I'm glad you spoke to the teacher about this. It might also be a good

idea to type up a letter that includes basic details of the incident, to

give to the Director. If it's in writing it may be less likely to just

be swept under the rug. Even if you don't want to make an issue of it,

at least make sure the higher-ups know that you feel the situation might

have been handled in a more appropriate way. Someone needs to speak to

that afternoon helper. She may not have had enough training or

supervision or maybe she's just not well suited for such a position. I

was so happy to hear that it wasn't 's main teacher who did this.

How does feel about what happened? I hope she's okay with

everything.

Take care,

Georgina

Dear Christy,

Will say a prayer for you as I have family in Lemmon and Bismark--and

know how bad the winters can be! They've told us many times of having to

string ropes from the house to the barn just to find their way in the

snow! Hoping you all have a mild winter!

Georgina-

I like the idea about the letter. It's hard to say what thinks about

the incident. I know she was pissed off when it happened. She has quite a

temper and she told me she screamed and cried. But being only 2, I'm not

sure how much sticks with her. Kids seem to let things roll off their

shoulders more easily than adults. But I did make sure she heard me tell the

teacher I wasn't happy about the incident. I also told her to tell me if

anything else ever happens at school that upsets her.

Diane
