Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, 's eye doctor took a look at 's eyes not too long ago. I didn't think it looked like the pink eye I had seen before. He also had a gunky discharge each morning. Doctor said it WAS conjunctivitis and prescribed an eye drop with steroids and two other meds in it. Used it for ten days and his problem cleared up. I'd have Jenna checked, just to be sure. Take Care, Georgina Dayna Drennan wrote: > > Hi Jeanne, > My daughter (, 12) has systemic JRA also. Guest guest
Hi everyone, My daughter (Jenna, 7, syst.Jra) has had a blood shot eye for about 4 days, it is only on one side of her eye, but I have now noticed that it is moving to the other eye. I took her to the pharmacy to ask the pharmacist if it was pink eye and she said no, " I have never seen a eye blood shot like that before, it looks like some type of infection, " I asked if it was her sinuses, she said no, then I told her about her JRA and she didn't know about that, only that I needed to get her looked at the doctor, He cannot see her til tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone else has been through this and what it might be. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeanne

Guest guest
I've dealt with the eye problems as well, I have used Pred Forte 1% as well as Athropine Ointment in my eyes, didn't mind the drops, but the ointment, well that's another story. When my eyes started with red inflammation the doctor that it might be pink eye but then later ruled that out for, ileitis. Then the opthomologist said uvlitis, sorry I don't remember how to spell that word. As I have found though the years, during the calm periods of my jra, my eyes are less inflamed. Doc says, got to keep the sed rate down, and the iron count up! I've also noticed, I feel less distress from the jra when I have more fruit and vegetables in my diet. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I hope my experiences can be of some help to anyone.
Guest guest
Hi Sally I had RAI in 2000, and although my blood work appears all normal, I still have floaters, I have difficulty with night vision, and my eyes still swell. I am very short on energy, and I still have a racing heart. In fact I have to remain on beta blockers for my heart. I feel as if I still am suffering from an autoimmune condition that has not been identified. Sometimes I feel fine, but a lot of time I feel pretty awful. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia or Myofascial Pain Syndrome depending on which doctor I choose to believe. I have been told that I have Ocular Myasthenia with my eyes. And I still have Depression (who wouldn't). But the bottom line seems to be 'live with it'. So I am currently playing around a bit with my meds. And trying to accept that what I have is probably the best I can be. I have no magic answers for you. It seems to be part of the thyroid thing sometimes. Guest guest
Hi Kate. Thanks for the reply. I didn't think I was the only one to have these things.I know the cause of how I feel was the thyroid but I want to know what is actually going on INSIDE my body. How, why etc...I agree absolutely about the auto immune effect. Interestingly, my sister suffered from cytomegalovirus-another immune affecting condition-and she now has eye floaters, fatigue and other ill effects. I literally have not been well for a decade. I guess the only thing we can try is to have a disgustingly healthy diet and maybe some vitamins.(?) It really helps to know that other people understand what you are feeling. I had no idea what was wrong with me when I fell ill. Have since found out that both my grandfather and his mother had a hyperthyroid condition during their lives. Good old genetics! Best wishes to you. Hang in there. Sally
Guest guest
Hi Mona, Thanks for your mail. I know how frustrating it is. During the last two years I've been fed up and stressed out over my health more than usual. During that time we were all going through a really stressful time: health problems, losing a family member etc...it definitely makes it harder to cope when things aren't going well. One thing I am very grateful for is that I have no permanent damage to my eyes-no scarring, or retinal detachment-and I thank the big guy every day about that. Have you ever gone to an opthamologist and had your eyes dilated before an examination? (They put solution in to open the eye so that it can be properly checked out). Well, for some amazing reason, my eye floaters and light sensitivity disappeared for a few hours until my eyes went back to normal size. I was able to go shopping in a well- lit mall without the need for sunglasses! I couldn't believe it. I've read on a message board this same thing happening to another person. I don't know what happened but it sure was nice while it lasted. All the best Sally
