Guest guest
I need to ask what is probably a stupid question but ... here goes. I was wondering exactly what is a medicated remission? Is it when a person no longer has pain but still has the disease? Or is it when someone no longer tests positive or has the ANA marker? Is it ever possible to get rid of this JRA? The reason I ask is because I feel particularly frustrated right now by my son's progress. I guess I am trying to cure what I am beginning to guess cannot be cured. Is there any way to stop the disease from progressing? Would a drug stronger than Celebrex (an nsaid) stop the spreading from one joint to another? My son started with pain in the left ankle. Then his knees would get sore but not all the time. Now he complains of the joints in his hands, especially the left. When we mentioned this to the rheumy, she nodded and looked at his hands (which don't seem swollen ) but didn't offer any advice. Maybe I didn't push hard enough. If he doesn't take his meds (he is 13 and we remind him, but we feel he should be in control of his meds day to day with us overseeing), his pain comes back to his ankle right away. Since we are new to this (just diagnosed in Oct.) and I have been on the list here since then I have been trying to read all the posts but I wonder if I missed someones discussion of something like this. I would appreciate any help you can give - this is so frustrating !! Thanks, Michele T.
