Guest guest
Annick, I fully agree, we are lucky that repositioning has been working for us! Though it's not for everyone. Thanks for a great post. It is discouraging to write about our repositioning successes and concerns because we always get a post back about it not working for someone, and to be careful. We obviously know the risks since we are part of the group as well. It is easier sometimes to write privately to the other repositioning moms if there are questions or concerns, which I admit I've done, which is a shame sometimes because that is not the point of the group. When new members join and see a lack of non-banding moms as I did, they can get discouraged. I am glad there are several of us now who can be here to answer questions for those who don't want to band for what ever reason. Take care - Eileen and Frazier
Guest guest
Annick and Eileen, Just wanted to add- please don't feel guilty- about anything (easier said than done, I think we all feel guilty at times that we are not doing enough or are we doing the right thing- banding or not.....I feel guilty about banding too, I mean, some people think I'm torturing my son!!) You are great moms and the very point of you joining this group is because you are great moms in search of the best for your child. I hope that you both can keep restating your position, as Kendra also said, so that all the new members that just get into this group and read posts (i know for some that have been around its old hat, but I know when I joined, I read the recent discussions and rarely checked the archives) they will know that both options are available to them. The repositioning success stories are EQUALLY as important as the banding stories, and perhaps, even more important, because it is an "easier" (I say that lightly, because I know it's hard work keeping them off that flat spot!) solution to that of the entire helmet process (both financially, travel-wise, etc.). I believe Lexi, Lori's babe, also had success repositioning as I just read. Please continue to be an important source of information to all members....we need your input!!! Keep up the great work and I hope you will feel comfortable enough to share your progress and ultimate success with everyone because we support everyone's decision as we have all been there at that crucial fork in the road of, what do we do??? I love this group and can truly say I respect the opinions and decisions of all members, we are just trying to do what's right for our kids....that's why we're all talking about this in the first place, right? Again, thanks for sharing your stories, and please continue so that all new members will know of both options. Thanks, ' Mom
Guest guest
<<Support is needed for all not judgement!>> I have been with this group for quite awhile now and I don't really feel like anyone here is trying to pass " judgement " on anyone else for their decisions. It has been my experience that sharing what worked and didn't work for one person is not a judgement against others that choose to go another way. The fact is that repositioning works for some and not for others. To post a reply that says that repositioning didn't work for that individual is not to say it won't work for another. It is no different from someone saying that the STARband didn't work for them when a post is put up asking about it! Everyone's opinion here is just that - their opinion based on their experience. I think it is unfair to say that " judgement " is being passed on repositioning moms! I haven't seen that to be the case. On the flip side I think it is great that more non-banding moms are posting on this page. It is good to hear BOTH sides - not just one or the other. Every individual needs to decide for themselves what they feel is best for their baby and then do it. I personally feel that this group is supportive of everyone's decision - yes we have people who occassionally get " passionate " about their opinion, but that is what a support group is all about. Please know that we do not shun or look down on non-banding moms - it works for some, but it also does not work for others. Everyone should feel that they can post their experiences and opinions without feeling like they will be called down for be " judegmental " . Hooray for all the moms and dads who are doing what is best for their baby no matter which rode they choose to take. The world would be a boring place if we all did things exactly the same!!!! Guest guest
Thanks for your message ... It was really nice of you, and I've always felt welcome to this group and that hasn't changed. The people in this group are great, I have been reading their post for three months and following everyone's progress and I'm very happy to be a member of this group. I've learned a lot since I joined and that is thanks to all the great moms and dads around. As for the not feeling guilty... I will try, but unfortunately I think there is not much chance that it will work ; ) But glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling that way ; ) Annick Mom to (27/01/01 - repositioning for the past 3 months) Montreal, Canada rella1234@... wrote: Annick and Eileen, Just wanted to add- please don't feel guilty- about anything (easier said than done, I think we all feel guilty at times that we are not doing enough or are we doing the right thing- banding or not.....I feel guilty about banding too, I mean, some people think I'm torturing my son!!)
