thats what i thought the coach was letting her do but

it didnt work

i dont want melissa to be handicapped or labeled that she knows her limits

with her asthma and now adjusting to this JRA sometimes it feels like

fighting 2 battles to make a good her school is just understanding she cant

do everything

i even had her on the cheerleading team and she ran track also

but right now shes limited to just walking my friend says i have to realize

shes disabled in my eyes shes not maybe i am the one whos blinded by this

but i will not allow melissa to give up on anything

Robbin,

hi, I think the coach is just being plain ole stupid and not thinking about

what's best for your daughter. You don't have to label her as being handicap

nor let no one else label her that way either. I agree with you about her

being disabled. Our children don't really understand that they can't do

everything the other kids do. My daughter is allergic to seafood and when I'm

not around she'll eat it and so my mom lets me eat it when she knows better

than that. But have to remember that they are kids first and then they are

rebellious with it.Everyone that gets Drese gets a list of do/don't and also

a list of can/can't eat, but she'll argue with them saying my mom let's me

have it. The school calls me all the time asking me what she can/can't eat

and they have a list already, but they will argue with her instead of telling

her NO. Then they'll call me because she she want fish or dairy products

that she can't have. Once I'm called everything is ok, so the child actually

won that battle with the cooks and the teacher, but lost the war with me. So

all I'm saying is that the coach has to be the adult in the matter and tell

NO and that's the bottom line. Well this school here hates to see me

coming when they are wrong about something that shouldn't havelet drese do.

Also I met with the sup. of the school system too and let him know what was

going on and that they would be responsible for if anything happened to her

and we have drs. orders at the school on her limitations and food allergies

too

lolol you go girl lololol your right if the child did or does as they

wanted

lolol they dont learn what NO means

my sisters do the same thing let melissa do what she wants

i had to sit and tell them alot one sister is like me and says NO

but none have kids and melissa is the only niece

i want to make sure i can trust them i did explain it was very important

not to allow melissa to run or jump or right now skate or ride a bike

due to osteopenia in that leg she could run or jump and break the leg

then she will understand she cant but as you said kids dont want to know

they just want to do

lololol

disabilities act and article 504 .. I found a good one that just hapens to be

more Ohio specific .... you can find it at www.specialeducationohio.com Hope

this helps. I am not from Ohio but still found some of the information

useful. Good Luck Kris
