Hi Pam,

Earlier on this list someone quoted 97.8 to 98.4 as being normal when you are

testing for hypothyroidism. I don't know if this applies for fertility or

not, but just thought I would mention it. Just what you need is another set

of numbers. LOL

Pam, We love Idaho also. We're just outside of Boise in a " banana belt " so

most of the year we have great weather. Gets a little hot in the summer and

sometimes we get snow in the winter, but compared to most places we have

lived, it is great!

In Boise, there are several varieties of Rye Crisp and at least one of them

contain corn. Don't know what the reasoning behind it is. It's amazing the

ingredients that are thrown into foods.

I have read so many different basal temp numbers for a normal function.

I was hoping Cliff would have listed what he considers normal.

In fertility books: Dr is quoted saying 97.8 to 98.2 is normal,

while the author states 97.4 to 97.8 is normal. In another book 97.0 to

97.5 is normal.

In our circles of infertile, some take bladderwrack for thyroid. Me, I

just use liquid thyroid and am pleased.

But with the discrepancy in numbers, it can be so frustrating. Pam.

Corn, I read all the ingredients in the box of rye crisps and nothing

sounded abnormal. but since i have seen the additive sight and the

hidden names, there might be something I missed. I will have to check at

the store for curiosity sakes. Pam.

Hi there, is your liquid thyroid a perscription medicine, or herbal, or what?

Just curious as i never heard of " liquid thyroid " . I probably need to get

out more anyways..

Funny sherry. I keep being so shocked at our reactions to foods. I am not

far enough on eating consistently to recognize any certain food's reaction.

Nope, we settled down in WV back in 1990. My hubby drives locally and I

had an office job. Then I got pg with my first and have stayed home

since he was born. We homeschool, so that keeps us busy. Pam.

Talking about allergies, I seem to have Meniere's and many people say its

linked to allergies. I guess it could be related to food or something else

you come into contact with in the environment. I have no experience in

testing for allergies or even recognising the possible effects other than

the Meniere's symptoms. What is the best way to attack the situation, does

anyone have experience ? My GP said it has nothing to do with allergies but

I have spoken to many who say it does. I have a friend in Australia who gets

it, he has managed to control the attacks with " Beconase " which is an over

the counter aqueous nasal spray for hay fever. About the only thing I'm

aware of is being blocked up in one nostril in the mornings when I wake up.

It seems to clear after about an hour or so. I often wonder why it blocks

over night. Of course it may not be allergy related in my case but I have

to start somewhere.

Any advise welcome. in NZ.

Hi Pam, How old is your son? I wanted to home school my children but my

husband who was a school principal at the time didn't think it would be good

for his image!! The oldest, a boy, was extremely bright and was nicknamed

brainy in the first or second grade and was picked on by jealous kids.

Needless to say, his school experience was less than ideal. He ended up

dropping out of high school at 16, entered college in their Honors Program

and dropped out as a Junior--depressed and discouraged. Not knowing

anything about the blood types, I allowed him to become " addicted " to milk

and cheese, whole wheat bread, etc. He's almost 30 now and has no job and

has developed a social phobia and doesn't like to communicate with people

except via the internet. He lives with his dad in another state and stays

up all night on the computer and sleeps all day. Besides the poor diet,

little exercise and no sunshine keeps him in a depressive state. It's

really sad and I don't know what's going to happen to him. He dreams of

moving to Australia where a friend lives, but unless his freind finance the

move, I don't think he'll make it.

I don't think I have a allergy per se, but as Dr. D'Adamo points out Os

system can't handle much grain, so I try to eat it in moderation and it

doesn't bother me. Of course, I try to use mostly spelt and I eat rye some.

Louise and pamela.

Do you have allergy to wheat because if you do rye, oats and barley are of

the same family as wheat that is what my Dr. who tested me said and I do get

a reaction to all. Wheat makes me aggressive, hyper, then absolutely

drained,etc. Oats make sleep, I just want to fall asleep and barley makes me

musicious. Rye I am not sure and I don't want to find out. sherry

My son is 6. And thank you for the positive words on home schooling. It

took a long time for my hubby to change his mind about it. His main

issue is socialization. Study wise, we do a lot, so that area will not

suffer. And play wise, he has days where other home schoolers come over

to play. But I do enjoy it.

I hope your oldest comes out of it. Maybe he will be a late bloomer like

me. Pam.

Debra, yes I know. But I wanted to do it before it became popular--25 years

ago! Where do you live? Some areas definitely have more homeschoolers.

we are home schooling also. my husbands parents and grandparents are either

teachers or principles. and they believe (can't get them corrected either) that

homeschoolers get paid for teaching at home.!

after going to public school and putting my daughter in public school (tryed to

homeschool but in the 70's as a single parent - poor, the public school system

attacked me!!) but nothin is stoppin me now!

god i can't imagine what kind of crap i'd have to take with my son being food

weird as he is. just kid curiosity not to mention peer presure and don't forget

the " basic 5 food group teachings " would have him eating all sorts of stuff. i'm

sure after 9 or nine years old he would have more sence than to eat the stuff he

isn't supposed to; but not a 6yrs old.

How fortunate you are to be able to do home schooling still not accepted here in

South Africa and a mother recently was taken to court for doing just that.

Its a disease that affects the cochlea. The main symptoms are a fullness in

the ear, tinnitus and dizzy spells. Some people fall over with it ! There

is no known cause but many say allergies play a big part. Some of the

causes listed are allergies, metal toxicity, poor blood quality, adrenal

problems, TMJ, chronic fatigue, problems with pineal gland and so on. Makes

it very hard to pin point what the problem is. If you want any more

Pam,

Are you sure you need that much soy?? According to my study, soy is ok

occasionally but not recommended daily?? Soybeans are listed under beans

and legumes with only 1-2 servings a week. Tofu is under neutral veggies,

so obviously it is in a different catergory--apparently more digestible than

soybeans. I used to eat a lot of tofu, but never felt any better. I

believe (from my experience) that Dr. D'Adamo is right; Os " genetic makeup

is not assimilated to the consumption of grains " (p 64). Do you have

additional info? Louise

ACtually, Louise, I was eating a lot of meat and taking calcium pills,

and my body felt fine, but I still had the pms. but when I stopped the

calcium/mag (due to fillers) and started to get it through soy and more

greens and such, I noticed my legs ached when I ate meat. Almost like

when my period was going to start. So I have cut back on the meat to one

serving a day, and i have salmon for the other, and soy for the morning.

I also have another soy before going to bed. Pam.

3 boys! You ever sense the boys are gonna quit on ya about 10 yrs or so.

Mine just died in the water as they say. My girl (14) just does so well. We

keep simple studies. What is your curriculum like?

I live in NH, and there are bazillions of homeschoolers here. When I

started, 8 years ago, it still wasn't terribly popular. People were still

surprised when i told them. Now, it's no big deal.

You will find this interesting. I use to have rice chex with soy milk

for breakfast, plus an egg. Well, right after eating it, I would be cold

all over with especially my hands and feet. And the only thing that

would somewhat warm me would be vigorous exercise. So I have not tested

to see which is the culprit - the sugar in the soy milk, or the grains

from the rice chex. BUT now that I am having soy shakes made from tofu,

my body temp is just fine.

I may be drinking a lot of soy, but i figure with me needing the calcium,

and the protein, I seem to be doing okay. I am eager to see how it goes

for this month. I use to drink tofu shakes a year ago and was using

natural fruit juice. Well, the fruit was just too much for my system.

So I make my shakes out of distilled water, carob powder, flax oil and

tofu. No sugar, and they really don't taste that bad.

Energy wise, feeling wise, and calcium wise, I feel pretty good taking

the tofu shakes. I do feel like I could use more calcium, but I am

eating a lot of greens and nuts and such. Pam.

That sounds fantastic ! its not something you want too much of. I take it

your an O blood group and fixed your problems by sticking with the diet ? I

am also sticking with it, have my fingers crossed it will help. Its amazing

you got better with diet alone.
