Guest guest
Helena, I had clinical depression (not situational) long before I was diagnosed with two autoimmune liver diseases. However, when a question is asked outside my realm of experience, I turn to my primo reference book, " Dr. Palmer's Guide to Hepatitis and Liver Disease " . She says " Any chronic illness may cause a person to become anxious and depressed...PredHere are snippants of what she says: " prednisone has been associated with mood swings, personality changes, depression and dissability. People may benefit from taking antidepressant or anxiety medications. While people with a chronic liver disease should avoid any nonessential medications, this may be outweighed in some cases by the greater benefit of treatment with antidepressant or antianxiety medications. The safest antidepressants are the SSRI's. " Hope this helps. Kay_TX, AIH 1995/PBC 1999
