Naltrexone----originally used for drug addiction per our heptologist but had the

remarkable effect of stopping my husband's intense itching within hours of his

taking the drug. This was after 3 months of not sleeping and continual itching

on the standard treatments.  Being able to sleep allowed his liver to start to

heal (augmentin/medication induced liver failure--turning up as an

after-market/testing side-effect) and his health improved dramatically. First

heptologist at our first hospital did not prescribe it. The heptologist at Lahey

Clinic did and probably saved my husband's life as he was on his way to needing

a full liver transplant. I posted this information back in 2006 or 2007, but

thought it should be brought to everyone's attention again. Hope it's helpful to

someone...
