Hi June,

I am finally getting a minute to write you back and update you on our

situation. I am sending a copy of this to the group as everyone has played

a part in our family. After I recieved information from many people and a

list of Doctors in our area I began the great search. Our HMO proved to be

no help, I was crushed and very discouraged but kept on calling. A few

people gave us suggestions on a Doctor not too far from us, I called and got

an appointment. But, I still kept searching within our referal area with

the Insurance hoping I could find someone willing to work along side an

experienced Doctor for guidance in this treatment. I eventually called down

to CA and got some advice from the nurse there, I ordered a lab kit from The

Molecular Diagnostic Lab in CA., but was told the test would not be acurate

because Camarie is on Pentasa(Mesamaline)this is a form of antibiotic/sulfa

drug. Ugh,, she has be be off of it for 3 weeks. So I am really needing a

doctors advice on tapering off this drug. Has anyone ever been on this???

We really don't have anyone right now, the wait to get into a new

Gastrointerologist is 4 weeks and our HMO Rhuemy is totally against her

going off of it. I'm not sure what to do. I know we need the tests,,,what

to do? She is on the no starch diet, no sugar, dairy, gluten, potatoes-we

are doing all we can on our own. It seems to be keeping things at bay.

Finally the good news!! After leaving many messages with a few Doctors

locally that friends had suggested, I got a call this morning from a

Wonderful Doctor that really listened to our story from beginning to end-he

eagerly promised he would help us!! He had already contacted a few of his

coleages(after only hearing my voice mail) and made some phone calls looking

for someone familiar with the Antibiotic treatment. He said he could order

all tests for us and would review her records to do his own research for us.

He wants to see a Dr.'s protocol for the Antibiotic Treatment and anything I

can bring him on this topic. I about dropped the phone-(I had to pinch

myself) it was the first time a Doctor didn't almost hang up on me and tell

me I was doing damage to my child by doing my own research.

Where did this man come from?-purely an answer to prayer. He is willing to

work with our pediatritian for meds to be covered by our HMO and is willing

to talk to any Doctor that can give him info on this. We can have Camarie

Monitored through our Pediatritian-YAY...

My question for you all,,, what information should I give him first?? I

don't want to overwhelm him, although I'm not sure that would be possible he

seemed to soak up everything I told him with much vigor!!

I want to thank everyone for all your help and words of love and support!!!!

I hope I can return the favor some day. I think we are finally on the right

track, patients will be the hardest thing at this point.

God Bless,

(Camarie's Mom)

Hi Caren,

I was feeling much the same as you, prior to my explantation in '95, then

the day & night before a huge sense of peace came over me. I slept very

well the night before surgery, had no problems getting dressed to get to the

hospital on time (VERY EARLY, For Me). I remained in this state of calmness

& peace -- nearly like a zombie! I was so happy to get this step over with,

so I could begin my journey back to health. I was amazed at my normally

panicky self, at this particular time. Although this was the 'most painful'

surgery I have ever had, I just came home and spent several days sleeping it

all off! It gave me a chance to think of much more important things in

life, and to meditate about all the beauty God has created in this world.

Blessings always,

Tell them you want some ativan or xanax or one of those type drugs

ahead of time...fill all your scripts ahead of time and that way you

won't have to stress on it at all. It is good your husband will be

with you..good luck

ps be careful about taking your implants. Dr.Feng kept mine because

once you take them they are not considered sterile any more and you

cannot use them as any kind of evidence. See if they will store them

for you till you can get them shipped off to someone who analyzes

them. I still need to do this myself but at least she has them and

they are considered sterile or uncontaminated. once the air hits them

even in plastic bags they can grow stuff that wasn't there

originally.

Usually, time is needed to prepare the operative report and type it

up, so I would wait until after the surgery to tell the doctor that

you would like copies of the operative report, as well as all of your

records.

I would recommend that you ask any doctor you see in the future to

give you copies of your records. You should have a file at home with

all of this information. (You will also see what they are really

saying about you! I heard of more than one story about women who

have seen what is in their records and finding out that what has been

written is not pretty.....needing psychiatric care, etc., etc. etc.)

The only thing i'm

> scared of is going under. I hate going under. Will they give you

> something the morning of my surgery?

I did not have any sedatives before surgery that I am aware of...but

suprisingly, a peaceful calm came over me while I was preparing for

surgery. I am sure you will feel it as well. Just have faith in God

that He is watching over you.

Call me if you want to chat before your big day, Caren. I still

would love to get together....

I know you must be freaked to take her off the medication for three weeks.

I was for myself when I had to go off for that three week period.

I kept feeling like I would get worse or sicker...I didnt

I would wait and discuss it with your new doctor.

On the home pages of "The Road Back" and this Group are articles to be copied that tell you what to bring. (Go back to some of the original places I sent you)

I wouldnt be worried about overwhelming him. He sounds like he is really wanting to learn and understand this and more iimportant...

His mind is open..........

I am running out now to get blood tests and finishing up a mosaic for a show this Sunday.....

But I will be in touch over the weekend with what I brought to my doctor and Im sure the group will be more then willing to pass to you what their favorites are.

Especially the ones with children....

I wanted to get this out to you to let you know Im there for you So please dont hesitate to email me.....

When do you go to the new doctor???

Ill write more later...

Hay there!! I don't know about your Dr., but my anesthesiologist(SP?) gave

me something to relax me after he started my IV. It completely helped! I was

in there blabbering and crying like a baby before he gave it to me! Talk to

the nurse as soon as you get there. She should tell your Dr. if you don't

get to see him before you're put under. My Dr. was right there holding my

hand when they put me out, which was nice. Best of luck to you!!! I'll be

praying for you!! And just so you know, I really liked my implants when I

got them, but the other day(had them removed the 25th last month) I was

getting in the shower and noticed myself in the mirror. I was so pleased

with how I looked! I felt down right SEXY!!! Totally natural and really

hot!! Needless to say the next couple of days were nice for my husband!! I

don't know why, but I love my natural breasts more than I ever loved my

implants!!! Best wishes!!!

cause I must admit I don't feel hot with my breasts anymore....they

don't look too bad, but they have the lift scars.....maybe you didn't

need a lift ????

Right now I am a small C and before my implants I was a small B.

They did a Benelli lift when he put in the implants. So when this

doctor takes them out he is going to do a full lift. I hope I will

still be a B but if not thats okay my husband will be pleased with my

breasts no matter what size. My boobs were saggy from 2 kids. I go to

a homopathic and after time when I ready he will help to get rid of

my scars.

You can print off Dr. Joe Mercola's Physicians' Protocol from

rheumatic.org/protocol.htm - the protocol is the same for scleroderma as

for RA - scleroderma is treated as serious disease and therefore

clindamycin is used as well as minocycline. Dr. Mercola's contacts are on

the doctors' list I sent to you (in Illinois section).

You might also want to take the Frequently Asked Questions list from

rheumatic.org/faq.htm, written by Dr. Millie Coker-Vann, Dr. Brown's

research assistant - her information is at the end.

We have experienced doctors who will help. Let me know what information

you need.

Chris.
