Hello all,

thanks to all for your support and kindness. I thought my pcp was going to

let me go home today, but I vomited last night right before dinner and then

had a major episode of increased pain and nausea. Needless to say, I didn't

eat whatever it was they brought me for dinner. After a few hours and an

extra dose of phenergan, the attack settled down. I guess that's why the pcp

is making me stay another day. He wants to make sure I can tolerate some

solid food before letting me go. Today I've had oatmeal, a few bites of

chicken breast sandwich, and half a turkey sandwich. The food has done okay,

but not great.

My GI finally came to the hospital this morning to see me. He asked me what

dose Imuran I was on before we stopped it in July. I told him it was 100 mg a

day. He said that he and my pcp had discussed things and decided they'd

rather put me back on the Imuran rather than pushing the prednisone back up to

20 mg a day. I told him I would much prefer Imuran over increasing the

prednisone. I asked him what my liver enzymes were and he said they were in

the 300 range. I don't know why I cannot seem to get my doctors to tell me

the exact numbers, as they normally actually show me the lab results. It

doesn't really matter that much exactly what they are, but I just want to know

so I'll know when they are moving in the right direction (down). So, I

suppose the plan is to continue the prednisone at 10 mg daily and add Imuran

100 mg daily. I guess as soon as my liver enzymes go down to normal or near

normal, they'll start tapering the prednisone.

I didn't even bother mentioning the liver biopsy to either of my doctors this

morning. They both seemed to be in a hurry and I was still half asleep when

they came in around 8 a.m. For right now, maybe I'll leave well enough alone

and give the imuran a chance to help get the AIH back under control.
