Guest guest
This is definitely not for everybody, but it is something else I've signed up for: Anatomy Gifts Registry - http://www.anatomicgift.com/. The Anatomy Gifts Registry (AGR) has developed a program to assist those interested in donating their body to medical science, and their families, with a pre-planning package entitled the " Future Donor Program " . Anatomy Gifts Registry is a non-profit corporation that provides an alternative to traditional funerals while supporting medical science and education. AGR is the largest national whole-body donation registry. After donating " what is useable " , as Harper said, the body is picked up by AGR and transported to their facility. There is no charge for this. AGR typically cremates shortly after the donation occurs and tissue recovery has taken place. Provision of the cremated remains (ashes) can be returned to donor families at no cost. Should donor families be unable to pick up ashes at our facility, we can ship them via registered mail for a set fee of $15.00. As I'd been planning on cremation anyway, I was happy to do this, after which my cremains will be returned to my family to be buried in my burial plot.
