Guest guest
My liver levels changed while taking Methotrexate and Imuran. Some of our drugs can change liver and/or kidney function...that is why they keep a good check on these things. It all came back to normal by lowering the dose on the Methotrexate. In the case of Imuran, it was stopped all together. Even NSAID usually changes kidney function after being on continued use over 10-15 years. It is always a good thing to have these tests done on a regular basis...once year or every 6 months. connie
Guest guest
I believe it's called a fibrosure test . But it is not accurate in patients with persistently low liver enzymes . I have normal liver enzymes but I have massive damage in my liver so the test would be inaccurate for someone like me . liver test Does anybody know what they call the test that measures the liver damage without a biopsy. I know that the biopsy is the gold standard and I had that done, but I wanted to see if the chinese herbs I am taking are working. I've normalized my ast/alt. Peace out, Steve
Guest guest
Steve, its called the "fibrosure" but its not very accurate, especially in the stage1-2-3 range, its more accurate in stage 0 or stage 4steve brewer <brewmon2003@...> wrote: Does anybody know what they call the test that measures the liver damage without a biopsy. Guest guest
Is there anyone out there who knows what these test results mean? I have alread had a more extensive blood test last week and I am having a liver biopsy Wednesday. These is the results that I have now. A ntimitchondrial AB 1:640 Referenese range NEGATIVE This is what showed the PBS. ANA positive (AIH) Total Protien 7.3 Albumin 4.3 Bili Total .7 Bili Direct .2 Alk Phos 355 AST 66 ALT 113 GGT 423 The nurse told me that the new blood test has probably ruled out AIH, but that it still looks like I have PBC and that I have iron overload? I's appreciate anyone's insight, it is hard being patient waiting for what I feel like a hammer to drop, I know they are waitn for answers too. Patsy, Thanks so much for sending me to pbcers.org. Now when anyone asks me about this new thing I have, I just tell them to look it up! I am scared silly about this liver biopsy, I just hope it is not as bad and I think it is going to be. Thanks, Rene
