Thanks in advance for listening! > > Selena and Ian in Denver > banded 3/6/01 Selena, Hi! Long time no talk to. As you know, Riley is in her second band. She is now almost 13 months. I have to say, the second band's improvemnt has been a lot more noticeable than the first. I am SO happy we made the decision to re-band her. Her ears are FINALLY starting to line up and there is only one small flat spot left. However, you have a lot different a situation than we do. Our bi- weekly adjustments do not include any sort of travel. You have to come to your own conclusion of what's right. If you can be okay with the improvement you've seen so far, then don't do the second. If it's only that you are worried about the second band not giving much improvement, I say that if CT says that there still will be improvement, you should listen to them. The ultimate decision is yours and what's best for you and Ian. Good luck. Sue (mom to Riley 2nd DOC 2/28/01) Phoenix, AZ

Guest guest
Hey Sue, Good to hear from you. When you said you got better improvement with the second is it because Riley hit more growth spurts? Was it the new pressure in the band? Was the first band not fitted well? How much % correction did you get in band 1 vs band 2?? I guess Riley was about 10 months when she went to the 2nd band. Ian will be about 11 months if we decide to reband. I just curious HOW MUCH more improvement we'll get. If it's a good amount, I'm willing to go the distance!!!!! Guest guest
Selena, Riley was diagnosed as " severe " by the Neuro when she first started. She was first banded when she was 5 months. She grew so fast that she was out of her first band in 7 weeks or so. Her second band was when she was 10 months old and she has grown so much since then. especially since she started eating soley table food and expanding her diet. I can't say numerically how much improvement we've gotten in each band. I can only tell you that I have really noticed the difference in the second one. Maybe that's because it's in her second band that her ears finally moved into alignment. You need to ask yourself: would you reband if it weren't about the traveling issue? Then think how hard the traveling is and put it all together and see what you come up with. That might help. Let me know. Guest guest
Selena: I am very happy to hear of Ian's good improvement thus far. Sorry to hear though of the possible 2nd band . I am sure you're more than ready to be done with it - especially the travel. And with him being more & more active, the travel is SO much worse, I know! Good luck and let us know what you decide.
