, because of AIH and its treatment, you must tell your doctor about anything unusual. (Anyone should, of course, but for us it's much more important.) Talking with your doctor is necessary to know whether an odd symptom is relevant. We are not in normal health. A cough, a rash, a pain that would mean nothing in others can be an important warning for us. Other autoimmune illnesses can be associated with AIH. More directly, Prednisone/Imuran etc. can cause or make you vulnerable to various problems. Many of these problems can become worse rapidly without appropriate treatment. If you don't have a basic reference book such as Palmer's Guide to Liver Disease, pick one up.

Prednisone may be the cause of chest/breast tissue enlargement, for either men or women. I believe Palmer talks about such changes in men; I put my copy down somewhere last night and I don't see it now. Again, this is something you should ask your doctor about. The swelling may be a predictable part of the process, or it could be something else that would need attention. In either case, why sit and worry when you can find out by talking to your doctor. If you need to justify the call, remember that worry and stress aren't good for us physically!

i am seeing so many mails that touch me and raise questions. I originally had a lot of problems with my lungs, mainly the left with fluid and pain. I am having alot of rattling again on that side whichh i blamed on a cold or something spread this time of year. Should I pay closer attention? Should I expect this always? Should i tell my hepatoligist or primary when i know it is an issue?
