Guest guest
In the greater Buffalo Area I did a few IEP's and used the bridges program as part of the IEP.... it's a Video Tape Program that teaches the aides, etc. how to do ABA, and it's somewhat generic, but the schools will buy them becuase it's cheaper then fighting a group of parents or even one for that matter. I observed the entire training video's and was impressed that they could put something together that inexpensively to help out schools that just wont get help any other way because they don't want to pay and no parent has called them on it yet. some of these school district administrators just need a 'spanking' as I call it.... an eye opening.... a check cut to a defense attorney for 10 grand for a retainer on a due process that I may never plan on having heard. Sometimes... it takes drastic measures to get the simplest of things. Bridges was also used in Bedford, Va. in a due process settlement I did 2 years ago.....the parents liked it. Some do not. If you're picky.... you may not. I personally thought it was a good idea for them to put it all on video and make it available to those that can't afford to 'take from savings' (some of us have no savings), or to borrow from family (alot of families have no money to loan).......etc. I give Bridges an O.K. in my book, not an excellent, but an O.K. .... it can be enhanced as all programs by the willingness of the entire family to support the system. ********************************************* The Office Of Advocacy for Autistic Children ********************************************* ----- We Need Your help to stay open ------- ********************************************** E. , Reg. Guest guest
could you share with the new wave of parents your complete story. My child was born in 2000. Did you opt out of VICP? However did you win your case? I thought it was near impossible? Thought the whole system was hostile to us. I have filed for VICP but gosh that and a nickle gets you a cup of coffee. I'm sure (like others) we have exhausted our life savings to treat our son, (no regrets) but when I hear these "million dollar settlements for hot coffee in the crotch stories" I want to scream. I would love to just have my IRA back so I can collapse when all this is over. BTW Welcome! schaferatsprynet <schafer@...> wrote: Bridges has joined our list. is the mother of avaccine-injured child (won their case in Vaccine Court in '98).
