Guest guest
Hello, I was diagnosed with pbc w/aih overlap in 2006 at Mayo/ville. Began Ursidiol 300mg for the pbc and prednisone 60mg for the aih. The prednisone was decreased over a 14 month period but my numbers remained high so azathioprine 50mg was added (I think I was taking 20mg of prednisone by then). When my numbers became normal then the prednisone was gradually decreased and finally discontinued. My second biopsy in '08 showed the aih is not in remission even though my numbers are normal (chemically but not histologically stable) so the hepatologist has continued the aza. A third biopsy is tentatively scheduled for next year. If in remission, the aza will be reduced and discontinued but if still active, my hepa has already said I will need to continue with the aza. I'm hoping that it won't be necessary to start prednisone again as I'm already diagnosed with osteoporosis and still fighting the weight gain from the first round of pred. (I'm 5' and weigh 140). Fatigue/low energy are my main complaints also and I guess we all deal with these and other issues as best we can. Hope this little synopsis has been of some help. Theresa, GA pbc/aih, stage
