Guest guest
Here's what the University of Cincinnati says in the area that deals with transplant evaluation: You must stop smoking and using any tobacco productsbefore having a transplant. A quick Google search will show you that the survival rate for liver transplant patients who use tobacco is lessened. I hope in you can convince your son to quit using tobacco. Best wishes Harper [ ] J rubbing and matching livers " J " classylassy26150@... I would think that between rubbing and living it should be an easy answer...... Most of us totally stopped drinking ANY alcohol after we were diagnosed. Rubbing is just another method of putting toxins in ones body........toxins that enter our liver. That puts an added strain on his liver which is very ill. So, by his rubbing he is only harming his liver even more. I guess it may be the same as not giving an alcoholic a transplant until they have quit drinking........After TX he will have to continue to treat his new liver with respect. As in never rubbing again... A new liver is such a gift.and one that many people never live to receive. I am one of the fortunate ones. I respect my new liver .........smoking? No!!!!! I quite over 20 years ago. Toxins are toxins..pure and simple. I hope that his sister is a compatible match. It is more then being the same blood match..the portal veins etc.have to be able to match up with yours. My husband was a blood match but they couldn't match his ducts and vessels up to mine. They take x-rays and see if the two are going to line up correctly or not. GOOD LICK!!!!!! Joanne
