Guest guest
Hi again, Trish, I should really read all the postings before I respond to only one. Yes, I have upped the Prednisone dose when I wanted to do something special. I was going to a wedding a few years ago and wanted to feel better than I was feeling so my Rheumatologist told me I could up it for a few days. I think I went from 20mgs to 60mgs. just for two or three days then right back down to my original dose. I had no problems occur from doing that. It just made me enjoy the wedding a lot more and could get up and walk around a bit. Than I discovered Enbrel and MTX and "bye bye" Prednisone. What a blessing. I feel 100% better. I still have aches and pains but nothing like a few years ago. I think you should follow your doctor's advice though, and stick to what "upped" amount he/she tells you to take. We are all different in how our bodies react to drugs. Mi. Carmen
Guest guest
Im not sure there Trish, only thing im maybe thinkin is it could maybe help with the chest issues such as fluid in lungs.Im with your new rheumy on fact that definitely wont stop cold but could maybe lessen few the cold symptoms.but is very good question maybe sum1 else will have better answer for you take care. d.Canada Extra prednisone Hi all, For those of you on long-term prednisone for Stills, I have a question. I've been on predinsone for about 11 years, mostly at lower doses (between 2 and 5 mg). My previous rheumy had told me when I got a cold, I could take a few extra milligrams of pred for two or three days to help my body fight it off, and help me not feel so run down. She also told me I that if I had an event I had to attend or was going to do something that would really run me down (like travelling), I could take extra pred then come back to my normal dose when my routine got back to normal. This wouldn't be for long periods of time, maybe just a few days or a week. Now my current rheumy tells me not to do this, and for a cold, it won't help anyway. I feel like I have a cold starting (very stuffed up in the mornings) and have/want to travel to my sister's tomorrow (her birthday). I did take extra pred this morning anyway as I believe it helps, though I am a bit nervous about doing it considered what my current rheumy told me. Any of you out there do this with your pred doses? What do your doctors say? Thanks for your help, Trish in PA
Guest guest
I mailed a whole bunch of prednisone to Glenda last week. She'll have to cut it, but it's better than nothing. Patsy Stair
