Guest guest
Sorry, Debby, but I believe that indicates that you need the 6MP. Why was the doctor discontinuing it? If you were having side effects, perhaps you could try another immunosuppressant. I've recently been started on Cyclosporine because we couldn't reduce the Prednisone below 12.5 with Imuran alone. The verdict is still out on whether this is working. I hate taking so many meds, but I feel like I have no choice. The hep did say he'd like to do another biopsy to see how the liver looks now after my LFTs have been slightly high for the past 6 months or so. Sharon > > I have been off 6MP now for approximately 6-7 weeks. The doctor thought it would be OK for me to be weaned off of it. Now however, my lft's are rising, but still in normal. My amalyse is off the chart, my bilirubin is rising. My thyroid functions are all off. She changed the labs from each quarter, to monthly. > > My question...anyone who has gone off, did your labs go askew? I am curious to know. Guest guest
Sharon, I am thinking that I will eventually have to go back to the 6MP. Interestingly, I have found that many of my rheumatological problems are also raising their ugly heads. I am stiff and sore. The reason was that we had agreed that at some point in time, the GI and I both wanted to go off and see if I was in remission, but like you, it appears that I will be going back on soon. I just want to be feeling good when I go to Rome next month....and I hope the labs will show something this month! That sounds terrible, but it what I am hoping for! I just want to get to feeling better. The 6MP has worked for me, as the others have made me quite ill. Thanks for your input Debby [ ] Re: stopping 6MP Sorry, Debby, but I believe that indicates that you need the 6MP. Why was the doctor discontinuing it? Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I have tried twice to stop my 6mp. Both times after about 8 weeks my labs went up and I had to be put back on the med. My understanding is it takes a few weeks for the med. to leave the system and a few to get back in... Up to 6 weeks for the full effect. I felt fine and would not have known except for the labs. Then I had a short stint on steroids until the 6mp was back. How are you today? Guest guest
Today was my first day back at work, and I am really tired. I am very very shakey today, but am going to continue until I hear from the GP. I won't know anymore until labs are done in 3 weeks. Hopefully, I can hold on until then. I do NOT want to go back on prednisone....that is one thing I just can't do! I will keep you posted...but my gut does tell me that it will be back on the meds...but if that makes me feel better, I am ready for it!
