Guest guest
, I would agree with Kendra - best to have a CT scan done and read by a professional just to be sure that it is not cranio. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
she has a slight ridge down the centre of her head.<<< Not to cause a panic, but again, a ridge on the head is not normal. It can be an indication of an early suture fusion (but not always!). Please ask for a CT scan, and have it read by a pediatric neurosurgeon who specializes in cranio AND plagio. Plagiocephaly Sent: Monday, June 11, 2001 1:56 AM Subject: my daughter talia hi, my daughter talia is 14 months old, she has plagiocephaly. she looks quite strange when you look at her as one of her eyes is bigger than the other, her forehead is flat on one side and she has a slight ridge down the centre of her head. if you hold her in front of the mirror and look at her reflection then she looks a million times worse than she does just looking at her. i was wondering if anyone else found this and if anyone knew why? anyway, hope to hear from you all soonmichelleFor more plagio info
Guest guest
welcome to the group-plagio causes asymmetry in the cranial structure which causes a misalignment of everything you are talking about. Have you seen a neuro or cranial facial specialist regarding your daughter? If so what did they have to say about it? I am glad you found us and will stay around to share your experience. Please ask as many questions as you like. Beck Mom to Memphis, TN
Guest guest
, Good luck with the specialist on Thursday - you might ask if you could have a CT scan done if you still have concerns. X-rays provide a lot of information, but CT scans are comprehensive and thorough. Please let us know how it goes - we will be pulling for you!! Guest guest
hi, thanks for the advice. she has had an x-ray done when she was 8 months old and it came back clear, but we have got an appointment to see a neurosurgeon on thursday so we will see what happens then. it seems that doctors etc. dont seem to take plagiocephaly seriously over here. they send you away with silly excuses like she'll grow out of it. anyway, im keeping my fingers crossed for thusday, hopefully something will finally be done about it!! michelle ____________________________________________________________
Guest guest
, An xray may be clear, but a CT Scan is the best way to rule out cranio. My daughter had a negative xray, but a positive CT scan for lamdoid cranio. Good luck! Guest guest
: Please make sure you take the films from the x-ray with you to the appointment. Sometimes x-rays can be misread if viewed by an inexperienced person.
