Guest guest
Hi Trish and Kelsey, Been a long time since I have been to the site..Read your post about when Kelsey gets sick she really gets sick from things at school. Have you ever considered keeping her home from school and letting her participate in *limited* school activities? Zachary (diagnosed 11/02 at age 9) has been out of school since last February. He couldnt fend off the crap you pick up at school. Although he is not attending school physically....he uses a webacm at home on a laptop and there is one in each class room where he loggs into that class for the time it is running...the children in the class and the teachers and other staff interact with him that way...he is learning the lessons in *real time* and not missing out....he also is allowed to physically attend 1 class a week if he is feeling up to it. Although at times it is hard for him....he knows it is the best choice for him....and one i might add..he made himself...as opposed to being sick all the time because too many other children go to school sick. He is due to have a liver biopsy november 15th and they will be removing him from his 6MP at that time and hope that all goes well.. he has been prednisone free since last February....which is why he started doing internet webcam classes....he was put in the hospital with in 5 days for pneumonia...This seems to be working though..he has not been sick one day.....being home....and all he is on for meds right now is 1000 mg chelated calcuim/magnesium, 250 mg milk thistle and 25 mg 6MP a day...... I hope all goes well after the biopsy....can anyone give me an idea of what to expect from this biopsy? it is the first one he will be having after being diagnosed 2 years ago... Thanks and hope all is well! Jayne in New Hampshire Mother to Zach; age 11 (dx AIH 2002, UC, 2002)
