You demand that you are given a form Gill even if you have to make an appointment to see the GP - mine gave me mine without hesitation and I had to fill in my bit, he then filled in his bit and posted it off - I then got a little card in the post and took this with me to my pharmacy and they noted the information on their computer - I now have no problem, they should also automatically give you the prescriptions for free being prescibed hypoT medication, mine did and it was actually them who told me I get my prescriptions for free.

She didnt - I havent badgered as I already had bought a pre payment certificate, but as that will be running out Im going to start nagging them! So thanks for the reminder - I'll start nagging them tomorrow!!Gill

Hi nne - you must have read my mind as I was going to ask what to do about getting free prescriptions. I did speak to one of the receptionists who said she would find a form and leave it with my prescription to be collected. She didnt - I havent badgered as I already had bought a pre payment certificate, but as that will be running out Im going to start nagging them! So thanks for the reminder - I'll start nagging them tomorrow!!Gill

Gill you must a genuine exemption certificate (now a card) before it makes it legal - please don't let people tell you wrong, without that number it is not legal.

Hi Sheila - its the only plus I can think of as you say!! I phoned the GP practice today, spoke to the practice manager and she is getting a form for me to complete and she'll get it signed by the GP and send it off - she did say she was also on thyroxine and thought it was free without the form - but Ive got a prepayment certificate which runs out this month so just to be sure will wait until the form comes back! Easy!! But I did have to ask!
