Gaynel,

Please tell Cliff thank you very much for his kind words and understanding. My husband, too, loves his Bud - or actually he mostly drinks Busch now, not a lot, but he does enjoy one or two in the evening after a hard day's work. Funny thing is that my husband's name is Bud! Actually his real name is Riley, but he was a junior and was called Buddy all of his younger years. As a teen, he began having friends call him Bud and he is still Bud to this day. Personally, I love the name Riley, but he's just Bud!

It is really tough to deal with a chronic illness and then to have to deal with people's stupidity on top of dealing with the illness! I'm sure Cliff has to deal with even more stupidity than I do since he has hep C. I think people want to be able to blame any serious chronic illness on something the person has done. In a way, it gives them a sense of security. As long as they don't do whatever it was the person did to 'cause' their illness, they won't have to worry about the possibility of having the illness themself. I know that I do the same thing almost every time I hear of someone dying in a car accident. I want to know if they were wearing a seatbelt. If I hear that they weren't, then it gives me a sort of sense of security because I know my girls and most of my loved ones are sticklers about wearing seatbelts. Therefore, since this person that died in the wreck wasn't wearing a seatbelt, I don't have to worry as much about my loved ones dying in a car wreck because they always wear a seatbelt. Kind of crazy because lots of people DO die (or are very seriously injured) in car wrecks despite wearing a seatbelt. I know that's totally different than a chronic illness, but in a way, I think it's kind of the same. People want to know what I 'did' to cause all of my health problems. Then, if they just don't do whatever it was I 'did' to make me so sick, they won't ever have to worry about themselves or their loved ones facing what I face

Dear Group,

For those of you who remember Gaynel and Cliff.... Cliff got his liver about 2 weeks ago. He came home but had alittle trouble with a bile duct, so they readmitted him and put stents in. But he is doing just wonderful and feeling great. He hopes to be back home really soon.

If you remember, Gaynel and Cliff were away from home(he had just been listed and they didnt have a beeper yet) when they got the first call almost a year ago. They missed that opportunity and have been waiting since.

If you would like to send Gaynel and Cliff an email their addy is:

GAYNEL508@...

She has sent a picture of Cliff in the hospital 5 days after his surgery. The smile on his face says it all.
