Guest guest
Virginia if you look hard enough you will find negative comments about all devices so don't let that scare you too much. It is likely that the DOC wasn't offered to you as an option because there may not be provider close to your area. Click here: Clinic and Specialist Locations What you want to do ASAP is have a nice long talk with your ortho and find out what his experience is with helmet therapy and his success rates etc. Click here: Questions for the Doctor this is a good list to get you started. Any device can be effective in the right hands and you did not necessarily make the wrong decision. You will see many success stories here with the star band so don't think you have done wrong by any means. Just talk to the Neuro and the Ortho and get a comfort level. If you don't feel comfortable or you don't feel your ortho has enough experience then really stay on top of him or her during the helmet process and make sure you get the attention you feel your child needs. We have mommies on board who's ortho's had minimal experience but they went to great lengths to educate themselves and to perfect their skills and now those same mommies would recc. these ortho's to anyone. SO it is OK. I am very glad you found this group and think you will find it a great source of comfort support and friendship. There are starband mommies out there who will respond to you I am sure. You sound like a great mommy so keep up the good work and please let us know about Grants progress and about your experience- it can only benefit other mommies on board:-) Welcome and be sure to ask as many questions as you like.
