Grace, I'm sorry you were one of the few people who have pain after biopsy.

Sites I went to said that severe pain after biopsy should be reported. One said

that those with severe pain should be hospitalized. Fortunately, you say

you're feeling better.

Be sure to tell your doctor that you're taking Liv 52 -- or anything else by

mouth, or that permeates the skin. Natural doesn't mean safe, as you probably

know.

Best wishes.

The pain I experienced was not in my / from my biopsy site it was in

the muscle spasm in my Left shoulder. Yes, my biopsy site was tender

and uncomfortable but not overly so. And I am not and will not take

anything by mouth without all of my physicians knowing about it.

I promise :-)

Hi Grace,

When I had my second biopsy three years ago I had a similar experience to you-

intense pain in my shoulder- I was told that it was due to displacement of blood

from the site of the biopsy which had moved to the shoulder area- nice to know

the reason but painful all the same!

Good luck for your recuperation and let us all know how you get on- we will be

thinking of you,

Hi and all ~

It is good to know I am not the only one - I have had muscle spasms

in my neck before but never in my L shoulder - Yikes no fun! It has

settled down quite a bit today - What I noticed today is I can't yet

take really deep breathes - feeling tension in the area of the biopsy

stops me at a certain point - I guess the muscles in my abdomen will

heal and it will get easier.

I have a whirlwind week end planned - am heading to San Diego friday

am for my sister's SHHH! surprise 50th birthday - 40 of her closest

frinds from all over are coming on Sat. The weekend is planned to a

tee - no slip ups - even down to me spending time with dear friends

in San Diego, spending friday night with them, the party 10am - 1pm

on Sat - and then that evening alot of the party people and my

friends too are going to see a play my neice and nephew are in at

their college - Cinderella! Sunday my sister's church group is

planning another B day party.

It is going to be fun being with everyone!

Hi Grace,

I also had intense pain after my biopsy (right shoulder and arm). They warned me

before hand about this pain and attributed it to a nerve connected to the liver.

Apparently, it is pretty common. I still get a sharp pain every once in awhile

and wonder if it is related to liver.

Good luck with your recovery.

Before I had my gallbladder out I used to have what I refered to as

electric shock type shooting pains that came from below where they

did the biopsy and shot upwards - Along with a panic attack - my b/p

heading north - I would make a mad dash to my doctor thinking I was

having a heart attack, they would do a EKG and then they would tell

me - no, your heart is fine. I don't get them as often now - but

they still occur on rare occasion. I had a few last night.

I am still on b/p meds but my b/p is now around or under what the

md's say is normal.

6 yrs ago when I had my gallbladder out they were supposed to do the

liver biopsy at the same time - well for whatever reason the surgeon

decided not to. So now it is finally done.

One more question regarding anatomy - when they did my liver biopsy ~

what all does the stylet they use to obtain the 3 core biopsy's go

thru.

Skin, Fat, muscles, ribs, lungs and then the liver?

And do they take the 3 core samples from different parts of the liver

or all from the same place?
