Shauna,

Thanks so much!! That was so sweet of you to say! I had always been normal

weight but my mom died in 1994 and I ate my way up til 1999 and I got a

cholesterol reading of almost 300. Im a big baby when it comes to medical

procedures and I decided that while I still had a choice about my health I would

do something about it. I joined weight watchers and the gym all in the same

day..LOL..2/27/99. I still follow the maintainance program and I exercise nearly

every day in some way. As long as I keep exercising I dont have to police what I

eat so much! So thats why Im really concerned about weight gain as a side

effect. I have heard horror stories of people gaining like 40 lbs on certain

meds. Yikes!! Have a great day! Suz

I lost my appitite when I started going through the final phases of

the break up a month ago and at the time was just under 200 (199 to

be exact). Then the lex kicked in and I got my appitite back but

somehow I gained a bit of extra will power and have now dropped to

178 in about 3 weeks. I wanted to drop to around 165-170 and figured

I can stick this out to hit that then set up a decent diet to remain

there.... gave me something else to put my mind to, too.

Shauna,

Are you only 29????? You are just a baby. I thought

that at 50, a ripe old age, was still too young to get

this nasty disease! I could be your mother. It sounds

like you lead a pretty full life while you are on hold

for that transplant. What exactly does an internship

mean? How much longer to get the PHD? I get to

retire next year and you have a whole career to think

about. What do you think you will do when your

education is completed. This is just me being nosy

again. You take care and I can pray that the CALL

comes to you very soon.

Hugs,

Kathy

P.S.

Cece is a youngster, too! You have done through so

much in such a short life.

Kathy,

No you're not nosy at all! I am touched that you are interested in more than

just the disease.

" How much longer to get the Ph.D. ? " is the million dollar question. The

original plan was to have graduated at the end of this past term but that did

not happen. I am definitely struggling with my research at the moment

(intellectually and emotionally) so things are not looking good at the moment.

The summer school course that I am teaching will be over at the end of June

so the plan for now is to come with up with a dissertation completion plan,

effective July 1st. A key component to this plan will be to devise a better

dissertation intellectual and emotional support system than the non-existent

one I have at present. Part of my dissertation ambivalence relates to my

uncertainty about what I want to do when I am through. I used to think that I

wanted an academic job but now I am not so sure.

Are you looking forward to your retirement?

Since this might be getting a little off the topic of the list please feel free

to

email me directly at ssaunder@...

Best Wishes,

Shauna (29, AIH'86, Crohns'95, PSC'99, listed for ltx, MELD=17)
