Guest guest
Very smart idea! I had no idea about the long term affects of Prednisone even if U no longer take it. I showed Kels the website and the products they had. She didnt like wearing a bracelet so we will go with the necklace. Only thing she likes having on her wrist is her watch. Go figure! She had no qualms about having to wear it and galdly accepted having the extra protection. Kels says thanks to all of you!! TY again for all ur help! Guest guest
Hi I feel at this point with the problem not being cleaned up at home by parents its just reinfecting other students at her school. The same kids always have it and it becomes a chronic condition in those families. I received approval this afternoon that Kelsey has been aproved for school transfer in September 2004. Hugs Trish > Hi Trish > > Sorry to hear that Kelsey is still having trouble with lice > that is a hard one to get rid of. > > Hope that you can change schools in Sept. Guest guest
That's wonderful. It makes a difference to feel like your accomplishing something. I'm glad to hear that she'll have some friends at the new school. Guest guest
Hi Im doing okay, Kels is doing great!! Decided to transfer her to a different school in the fall. The lice is still going on at her current school and the attitude of the teachers there really sucks. I think if she were in a better enviornment her health would be better physically and emotionally. Its a question of would U send your child to a 1 star school or a 5 star school for the same cost. Shes excited about the transfer. She continues with private counselling to address the self image problems caused by the meds and how to handle people when they ask her " why " questions. Her dance recital is the end of this month and will start soccer in mid June. Her blood levels are still stable and her meds are no longer being decreased until her blood levels drop some more, so we wait. I created a web site for Kelsey about her journey full of information, links to CAH, school study sites. Made it geared towards kids. U should check it out: http://groups.msn.com/MyLifeToDance Whats new with U? Are U feeling well? Hugs Trish > Hi how are you doing? I am so out of touch and need to get caught up. > I hope things are going well for you. > the WV hillbilly
Guest guest
Hi Ur a sweetheart! TY for the compliments! We live in southwestern Ontario, not far from London. This lice thing is such a pain. The thing is teh policy had been so laxed in the past 5 years its a HUGE problem now. Kids do come back in after being sent home without being re-checked, hence the reason its never cleaned up. The " bug checkers " are all parent volunteers, so finding a parent to check a child at a moments notice is difficult. No government funding for this and nno funding is provided by the school board.I have just had enough of it and its time for us to move on. Hugs Trish > Hi Trish, > I am glad Kels is doing so good. I will check out that site as soon as i can. > She is a very special little girl [ But then her mom is special too]. > Where do you guys live? can't they do something about the lice? Guest guest
Hi What U said doesnt sound weird at all, I do feel bad but it will pass. Kels said it beats getting lice and having to do that yucky shampoo stuff. It just never occured to me she could catch something from the river so easily. I need to be more cautious of these things. Hope U are doing well. Hugs Trish > Hi Trish > > This is going to sound weird but > I'm glad that Kels got to swim > in the river but very sorry that she > had to pay for it. Guest guest
Hi Ty for the post! I registered today actually and Kels was with me. She even toured the college with me. Her counsellor even feels its a good idea for both of us. I have already lessened my work load by 4 hours from previous college courses so my schedule is looking much better now for me to manage. Ty all for ur inout, I really feel I have made a good choice here for me and my family. Hugs Trish > Hi Trish > > I just got back form vacation and saw your post > about going back to school how wonderfull it will > be for you and for Kels I think that Kels will feel > less like she is holding you back because of her > illness and that now she has some control over > her own life like being a big girl and it will be great > for you and society because I think that you would > be fantastic in your chosen profession. Guest guest
Hi She was very happy this Halloween, no puffy face like last year. We both thought her being a butterfly this year was VERY appropriate. Kels is doing great at school, this school is very supportive of her coping with her illness. I havent once been called to pick her up from school cause shes not feeling well. I truly beleive the social enviornment she is in during the day, 5 days a week plays an important part on her remaining well. Her teacher and the principal are helpful to her at school. She has only missed one day due to being ill and another spent at her checkup/visit in London. Not once has she come home with a migraine this year. For me, school is stressful. Moreso than I thought. With hubby still away working in Pickering and been gone since Sept 3, its been tough. A full college course load, the house, yard work (will be glad when it snows), Kels' appointments/tests, poor dog acts like an orphan, banking/errands/shopping. What the hell was I thinking? LOL Im enjoying it, my grades are great but Im so tired. Kels has been really supportive of me going to school, she has her days where she misses her full time mom. I am aiming to get thru to the end of Dec and we will go from there. Thanks for asking about her/us. Hugs Trish > Hi Trish > > Kels looks great she seems so happy > that makes me very happy. Guest guest
Kels is doing well, thanks! I just feel if one is going to be off meds they should still be monitired. Kels has been off all meds since Dec 2004 but her doctors will continue to do bloodwork every two weeks if she remains off of it for up to 2 years. They may go to 1 per month eventually but they would NEVER just stop. Just how we are being handled, some docs do things differently. ...do U want your bloodowork checked every 2 weeks? Once a month? If U do tell him U do. Trish > Thanks for you quick response Trish. > How is Kels? Guest guest
TY for the post! If I have more suspicion that shes doing it again, I will encourage her to see her counsellor again. And hubby told me I cant go to the school yard and beat the kids up who are bugging her. Bummer. Trish > Trish glad that Kels visit was good but it's a shame it's such along day for > both of you. Guest guest
lol, kids are so mean at school. We just have to give our kids all the love we can possibly give, and do what ever we can to give them extra activities, because school is not always the best place to find great friends, sad but true. Kelli > > Trish glad that Kels visit was good but it's a shame it's such along > day for > > both of you.
