Guest guest
Sharon, It is not too late. Do you want an XL or a 2XL - I am a 12/14 and the XL is large on me. You can pay through PayPal - a long sleeve including shipping and the PayPal charge is $23.00. Let me know and make sure you include your address for shipping. The deadline is Sunday 10/08/01. Guest guest
Joan, Thanks a lot. I'm actually feeling much better than this morning. I'm just sticking to liquids and some crackers for a day or two in hopes that I can keep my pancreas settled down. I'm going to retreat to my recliner and write a letter to my daughter's future mother-in-law regarding options for my daughter and her fiance's rehearsal dinner. They are getting married May 29, 2004. They want to have the rehearsal dinner at the local country club pool. They want to have a fun Hawaiin Luau (spelling) pool party for the rehearsal dinner so that we can just have a really fun, relaxing family evening prior to the 'big' day. The pool is very nice and they only charge $250 to rent it, so I didn't think that was bad. You have to use a caterer on their approved list, but it ends up the one we felt was the best deal is on their approved list. They will do an all you can eat barbecue buffet style with barbecue pork, buns, potato chips, potato salad, slaw, baked beans, and iced tea for just $6.99 per person. they set it up, serve people in a buffet line, and then do the clean-up afterwards. I felt like the price was very reasonable and I have eaten at the restaurant many times and the food is always good. There is another caterer on the list that does both barbecue and fried catfish. Their food is also very good so we will leave it up to Nikki's fiance's mom and stepdad to make the final decision on which caterer to use since they will be footing the bill for the rehearsal dinner. The pool does have indoor bathrooms and a simple room that could be used just in case it rains on the night of the rehearsal dinner. Currently, Nikki and live in Montevallo, AL and are in college and working. We live in Athens, AL and that is where the wedding and reception will be held. Montevallo is about 130 miles south of Athens. 's dad and stepmom live in Clanton, AL, which is another 30 miles further south. His mom and stepdad live in Montgomery, AL, which is about 70 miles from Montevallo or 200 miles from Athens. So, I'm doing most of the leg work as far as scoping places out, geting prices, etc. Then I pass the info on to Nikki, , and 's mom. This is all becoming more and more real and I have to admit it is coming together quite nicely. the one thing about me getting sick and having to do a disability retirement is that it has allowed me to have a lot more time to research various options and try to get the best service for our money. It has been fun scouring the internet, e-bay, dollar stores, etc. trying to find the best deal for the money. Even so, it is much more expensive than I ever anticipated. Luckily, I know my daughter and some things that are very important to her, I really don't think is worth the cost. I decided as soon as they got engaged (over 18 months ago) that I would simply give Nikki a set amount and she could make the decisions on how it would be spent. My husband (nikki's stepfather) and I are giving her $3000 because I felt that would pay for half the cost of a very nice wedding. Boy, little did I know how far from the truth that was! I have given Nikki the opportunity to earn an extra $500 to go toward the wedding and she jumped on it. Nikki's father and stepmother agreed to match the $3000 my husband and I are providing. Nikki and her fiance began a special savings account as soon as they became engaged and they are contributing $4000 toward the wedding. So, they have a budget of about $10,500 to work with. the wedding is going to be beautiful but we have had to cut many corners to stick to the budget As for their honeymoon, my husband and I gave them our frequent flyer miles for flights to Cancun. Actually, they are staying in the area called the Mayan Riveria which is about 30 minutes from the hopping area of Cancun, but the hotel has free shuttle bus service running all the time to take you to the action spots. Nikki's dad and stepmom are letting them use their timeshare week for the honeymoon. They decided to go with an all-inclusive so they won't have to worry about budgeting for food and drinks. They will have to pay the all-inclusive fee, which is $1000 for both of them for the week. However, that includes all meals and drinks at any of the restaurants at the hotel. I think there are 5 different restaurants, all rated superb from what we've found from our online scuba friends. They will have the best of both worlds - a very romantic secluded hotel with all the food and drinks you. Then when they want some action and a night on the town, they can go into Cancun. Nikki was so sweet when I told her we were going to give them our frequent flyer miles. she started crying and said I would never know how very much that meant to her because without the help from her dad on the hotel and from us on the airline tickets, they would have just had to go somewhere within about a 6 to 8 hour drive. Boy, did I get off track. Can you tell I am having fun helping plan the wedding? Thankfully, Nikki knows that I want it to be their day and that I will never get mad if she doesn't want to do things as I suggest. I'm kind of just a gopher for her. I gather all the information, look for the best bargains, and then let Nikki and decide which way to go. Anyway, gonna get off the computer and put together some infor for Nikki's future mother-in-law. I hope this finds everyone having a great day. Guest guest
Joan, I am doing better. I had my two week post-op visit with the surgeon today for follow up on my hernia surgery. He doesn't think all the coughing from the aspiration acute bronchitis messed up the hernia repair, but he said we won't know for sure for about 8 weeks. I'm a little bummed because one of the tests that my internal med doc did for celiac disease came back positive. A member of my pancreatitis group had sent me an e-mail suggesting that I ask my doc to do the blood tests for celiac disease since it can cause both pancreatitis and AIH. The Gliadin IgA came back positive at 57. My internal med doc sent the results to my GI doc and I will discuss this with him at my next appt on Sep 22nd. I know many in our group have celiac disease and if I do have it, I will do what I must and deal with a gluten free diet. However, it will mean a major lifestyle change for me and the thought of it is quite depressing at this point. I know it could be so much worse, but it just seems that my health issue mountain just keeps getting higher and higher. I am usually able to keep a very good attitude but right now I really just want to cry. For the first time in my life, I am sitting here thinking - just how much more can I take? How many more medical issues am I going to have to deal with? Hopefully I am overreacting and I really don't have celiac disease, but right now I am just about to have a pity party, but I'm trying not to. W [ ] ........ Hi, How are you feeling? Guest guest
, this is really getting frightening to see so many of us with celiac! It really justifies my case that undiagnosed celiac is the reason for the AIH Debby Re: [ ] ........ Joan, I am doing better. I took my youngest to New York City to see the Radio City Christmas Show...we did see many people who had run in the marathon. That was exciting. The best part was my daughter (10) is in a leg cast and we didn't think she might be able to walk the long city blocks but she was great. You would have never known she was dragging it around...that is unless she stepped on your foot! Ouch! I hope this email finds you well.
