Guest guest
My heart goes out to you for having a child with this disease. Take heart in that it can be managed. The stage and grade relate to the amount of damage and the amount of inflammation respectively. So, your daughter's stage means that she has some damage to her liver but not extensive. It is a blessing that they have diagnosed her before anymore damage is done. This is considered early in the process, to catch someone at stage 2. You might want to ask her doc what grade she is in. This would tell you how active the liver disease is by the amount of inflammation occurring. Inflammation that is not treated, turns into more cellular damage. If possible, see a good heptologist (liver specialist), not just a gastroenterologist. Roxanne In a message dated 9/28/2006 9:09:30 A.M. Guest guest
Such a difficult thing for you to have to contend with! It is frightening to see your children ill. Work with your doctor...tis disease can be controlled with medication, but indeed it is frightening to read about. This board is a great help and full of information! Guest guest
Oh my Dear, What a cruel thing to happen to your daughter, you and your family. I would certainly get a second opinion. You can also as another pathologist to read the slide. No one is perfect. Be sure to ask if your doc eats liver, if they do they need more education on liver functions) And you need a new doc. (yes I do this with all my doc's) When I was first diagnosed I had gone through at least 7 diagnosis. And, at least 10 doc appointments and a biopsy. I think I speak for many when I tell you I will pray and hope for you daughter's quick recovery Love and Peace ne
Guest guest
I live in the St. Louis area and my Hepatologist is Dr. Lisker-Mehlman. He's part of group at Washington University School of Medicine/ Hospital. The office is very busy but I like the convenience of the having all the testing one might need it the same building (labs, radiology, etc.). This building is called CAM (Center for Advanced Medicine). And am especially pleased with my nurse co-ordinator, . What part of of St.Louis does your daughter live in? s_bravard <bravard3@...> wrote: My daughter sees a doctor in St Louis Mo. He will be moving away from the area. She will get a new one in Nov . He is a Liver Specialist/ Hepatologist/Gastroentologist. Their is a whole list of them in the group. I have sent for a copy of her liver biospy. I want to see for myself what it says. I didn't feel her doc took her disease very seriously. Although, he did turn our lives upside down prior to diagnosis.
