Have you got the Avery built yet??? Our most at one time was twenty-one!!! That was TOO many ) Eight of them were baby's... I had to hand raise them as the parents wouldn't take care of them, they didn't know how, since they were hand raised themselves... Ours like corn the best also... They Love popcorn ) When they hear the mocrowave going and the corn popping, they all start chirping until they get some ) We only have three left now... Plus, the Monster!!! I went to the store where I got Kody from (last Monday) to buy some calcium and iodine blocks and I saw Kody's brother still there unsold. I had deliberated choosing between them when I bought Kody. They are both spangles but Kody is cobalt blue and his brother is sky blue. Anyway to cut a long story short I went back 5 minutes before closing time and bought the little guy. Named him Skylar. He has now been home about 1 hour and 20 minutes and he sits on fingers and has been preening and eating. I think Kody must remember him too because they are getting along very well and playing nicely. Max has been showing off to Skylar too. Skylar will be sharing Jyoti and Max's cage so it is good that they can get along. Jyoti just stared at him but neither her nor Max made any aggression at all when Skylar flew up right between them on the perch. I usually wake up to the birds softly warbling at around 5am and then I go wee and then go back to sleep and when I wake up around 6 or 6.30 they are quiet again because the sun stops shining right in the window so it goes darker in the room. The birds all sleep in cages on my bedroom floor so I can see them all and they can see me. This way we get less night frights (or none lately) and the light from my alarm clock works as a nightlight for the fids. I uncover and wake them up around 9am as I am doing restricted daylight because I am not ready to have them breed and they are all too young. Mysti still is randy and wanting to make eggs but she has no budgie boyfriend so if she does lay they will not hatch and I will just let her have them until she realises that. I am so glad that I bought little Skylar. He looks so cute next to Kody and the others. I buy seed in 5kg bags but the birds probably eat more vegies than seed. Nobody makes pellets for budgies in Australia but when I start some part time work (long story the Autism Association did get their act together after all the bull so I should be starting in a few weeks and my unpaid work experience starts week after next) I will be buying the Vetafarm crumbles for them. Guest guest Posted November 11, 2002 Report Share Posted November 11, 2002 It is a matter of money and no availability of a digital camera or scanner except my Dad's scanner which means I have to buy and develop a normal camera film and then spend half a day (or more because he is a pedantic nuisance) scanning it all at his house. He is slowly using up a film with his good camera (which with him might take ages) and I guess when he gets around to finishing the film he will get it developed and I will have scans then. There is a long term plan to build a chicken enclosure in my back yard and I will have to submit plans and get approval from the council first and have the money to buy and keep chickens and the energy to do it too which at the moment I don't have. I have asked both parents to give me money instead of presents for Christmas and with this I am going to buy an indoor flight cage (on wheels) for my budgies. The one I want costs $250 (australian dollars not US) so I will most likely have to put some of my own savings into it as well. When I get a tiel for my birthday (or before of course) I will buy a cage for it as I would not house a tiel with budgies. There is an old aviary in my back yard that was there when I bought the house but this area gets very windy and too cold in winter for me to put budgies or tiels in there.. and anyway I like tame pets indoors not just aviary birds outside. There is also the issue of it having concrete slabs and sand floor and being pretty old so it would need one hell of a clean and would need to be hammered back into shape and repaired a bit. All of that would be too much of a toll on me I think and same to maintain it. I manage to water my little vegie patch (9 plants in total) and my front rose garden each day but that is as much " outside " stuff as I can get myself to do on a regular basis. She will be using wood chips for the floor droppings. It sounds like it will be very nice... I know things cost Way too much for anything now a days ( I would never put birds out side either... Helen The one I am getting has a metal tray and pulls out for cleaning and it looks really cool. I will line it with newspaper and will wash down the mesh and sides and stuff with disinfectant regularly like I do with the smaller cages. Plexi glass is a good idea. Guest guest Posted June 13, 2003 Report Share Posted June 13, 2003 Hey everyone... well it is certainly friday the 13th..... as you all know Ty got his Remicade wed...he did fine with it....so that is good....and we are in the process of getting ready to leave for Tys Make a Wish trip...on monday... last night my mom was put in the hosp from the nursing home where she lives... plus.... Ty ran a fever last night..but didn't tell us...but this am it is 102.7...so have already put call and email into his doctor....so we wait... needless to say Ty feels lousy.... will try to keep you updated....here in the gloomy state of NJ... I also have a few about Medics who have been forced out of the offshore business all together and are awaiting a hearing. 09:00 - 06 January 2004 An Offshore medic was taken to a disciplinary hearing after someone had tipped off the Press and Journal about e.coli being found in a North Sea platform's water supply. An industrial tribunal hearing in Aberdeen heard yesterday that Burns had denied telling the newspaper about the bug. No action was taken against him by Aon Ltd after the disciplinary hearing into the incident but the firm terminated his employment by letter several days later. The letter said he could not return to the Armada platform and that Aon did not have any other medic positions available. However, Mr Burns claimed at the hearing yesterday that he was employed by the firm which owned the platform, BG Group, and not the contractors, Aon. He told the tribunal that he had taken a grievance procedure out in 2002 because he had been bullied and victimised for more than a year. He said he had taken up the matter with the platform's offshore installation manager and the deputy OIM, both employed by BG Group. It was on their advice that he left the situation for a while to see if it would get better, and only then did he involve Aon. The situation was then resolved. Cross-examining Mr Burns, solicitor Jane Fraser, for BG Group, asked him why it made any difference to him when the company changed from Cape to Aon, if he thought he was not an Aon employee. Mr Burns replied: " The only difference that happened to me personally was that rather than getting a Cape payslip every month, I got an Aon payslip but my lines of management and duty had not changed. " Mr Burns confirmed that he had not got an employees' handbook from Aon. He said that other matters, such as pay, were also dealt with by his line manager, the BG Group OIM. Giving evidence, Colin White, the Armada OIM, said BG Group did not directly employ medics. He said he was surprised when Mr Burns had invoked the grievance procedure. " I was surprised about this case and its duration. I had not been approached directly by him (Mr Burns) and I was quite surprised about the intensity or importance placed on it by him. " We have a very open culture which we have been commended on by the Health and Safety Executive. " I would not discourage anybody not to pursue anything with their employer. " Mr White said that when the e.coli incident happened, he was concerned that what had happened had been misrepresented as it had been dealt with and contained, and the safety representatives on the platform had been informed. " I got a call from the duty onshore manager saying that the press had been in touch saying there had been a possible serious contamination offshore. " Basically, my main concern was someone had seen fit to give misinformation to the press. " The following morning, an article appeared in the Press and Journal and it was later on BBC and Grampian. " It caused undue stress to the guys out there as there were a number of calls from family onshore. " I thought that my door was open if someone wanted to discuss anything so I was disappointed that someone had seen fit to do this. " Mr White carried out an investigation and, after taking witness statements, gave the information to Aon. He said he was not involved in Mr Burns's disciplinary hearing because it was an Aon company matter, not BG Group. The tribunal continues. Guest guest Posted January 9, 2004 Report Share Posted January 9, 2004 My point was that the more jobs we are given and therefore broad responsibility accepted, the more things can go wrong. i was only pointing out that we as medics should take everything to the letter of the law still and not let up as it will bite us in the arse. I am quite upset at the moment over offshore related matters as a few of my colleagues are battling things out with their respective company's. The Medic was protesting about having to " Deep clean " rooms as well as all their other duties.
