Guest guest
a, Sounds like good news to me. Jerry, will I'm sure, give you more info on specifics but no mention of fibrosis or cirrhosis. Do not be suprized if your doc wants to send it to another Pathologist for a 2nd opinion. They looked at mine in 3 different hospitals by 3 different Pathologist. This is not unusual so don't be to upset if he mentions that. I think a lot of us have had this happen. AIH is not something they see a lot. Particularly, if you are in a smaller more rural area. Hang in there, sounds like good news to me.
Guest guest
a, Sounds like great news to me! But Jerry is much better at interpreting these things so I will leave it to his expertise. Congratulations! But do make your doc aware of how you have been feeling. Love, Carole
Guest guest
a, forgive my ignornace, but have you already been dx with AIH? I have NO clue what your biopsy mean, but at least your doctor will be able to tell you tomorrow! Debby [ ] Liver Biopsy Report - a - Hello everyone,I "finally" got the biopsy report and here is what he says:"Diagnosis: Mild nonspecific changes (see description)""Microscopic Description - The overall hepatic architecture is preserved. Portal triads appear normal. The lobules are arranged in single-layer plates without evidence of collapse or regeneration. There is minimal spotty lobulitis without associated acidophils. There is minimal to mild macrovesicular steatosis. No significant iron deposition on PAS/diastase reactive hapatocellular globules present. The terminal hepatic venules appear unremarkable as so the hepatic sinusoids."This is it. I am not sure what it really means, anyone knows? I am going to the doctor tomorrow morning. Do you recommend any particular questions to ask him? By the way, I am still in pain, still feeling dizzy, and very tired too.If you can, try to answer tonight, because I can't get to this website from work (firewalls don't allow it). Thanks !!! a

Guest guest
Hi Debbie, well, my GI had made a preliminary diagnosis of AIH ... based on various tests. Not sure where this biopsy puts me !!! For what I have read, " lobulitis " is associated to AIH ... how much or how little ... I don't know. Maybe Jerry does. a > a, forgive my ignornace, but have you already been dx with AIH? Guest guest
a, I don't really know how to read a biospy but I think it sounds like really good news! Your doctor will probably explain all that to you. If he doesn't-just ask him to. Have the copy with you and see that he goes over each sentence. If you have to pull your chair over right next to him, just do it! How's that for assertive? Good luck! -NH
Guest guest
a...basically it says you will live to see the doctor at your appointment if you don't get hit by a bus.. Actually there seems to be little damage....lobulitis means some inflammation (in the lobes...which are divisions of the liver) and steatosis indicates some fatty deposits showed up which is actually pretty common I should think....they tested for hemochromotosis (iron overload) and it was negative...I'm not really sure what reactive hepatocellular globules means exactly but I'm making an educated guess that it means swelling in some of the liver cells (which may be due to agents that would cause inflammation) I could be wrong .... all in all the biopsy shows some slight or minimum damage...however what you have posted says nothing of any diagnosis, that I can see, of AIH or any other condition...all that is here is a damage report...which appears to be a fairly good report. The enzyme markers that indicate AIH are not mentioned here. Let us know what your doctor says.....good luck we're pulling for you. love jerry
Guest guest
Jerry, my goodness you are writing this at 3 AM !!! You are so sweet to take the time !!! I am glad to know that the " changes " are indeed mild, but as you said, there is no real diagnosis of " what " is causing this. I do have an appointment with a specialist at a large Med Center on 29 Jun and the Hepatology Deptmt has its own pathologists. I think I should get the specimen analyzed by these pathologists, what do you think? Jerry, thanks again, I am running to work .... will let you know what the GI tells me !!!
