I don't understand. Air hunger and drooping eyelid are not autoimmune

conditions. I meant something like diabetes, psoriasis, and lupus, which

are common with Hashimoto's. Rheumatoid arthritis is another autoimmune

disease, but it is not connected to Hashi's.

Now I understand. Those are indeed possible early symptoms of MG,

although they could be other things, including thyroid related. If you

start having difficulty swallowing, you should definitely have it

checked. I thought you were counting the two symptoms as " two " conditions.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

Chuck, so I have Hashimotos, Myasthenia Gravis and Asthma (does that count as

autoimmune disease?).  If so, I should have my 3 and hopefully I will not get

anything else!

Abbey, you just described EXACTLY how I feel when I have difficulty breathing.

I have had this for the last few years and also attributed it to my thyroid.

The doctors I saw (even an ER doc, after a particularly bad episode)

attirbuted it to either stress, asthma or said it was in my head.  It is not

like asthma (which I've had since I was a child, so I know the difference).  If

I can do a deep yawn, it does help.  From the information I have read, the

antibodies block the muscles from receiving the message.  I guess for a bad

" attack " you have to be placed on a respirator, but that has not happened to me.

I usually just get the " air hunger. "  They say stress and activity can bring

it on.

Hi Chuck,

Thought you were saying that people with Hashi's

are likely to get at least two other AI's, MG

being one of them.

Checked out a list of symptoms for MG, and

short breath, drooping eyelid (ptosis) were

among them. So, I thought I *may* have MG.

When I was reading lots on a number of lists, short

breath was referred to as air hunger and a symptom

of hypothyroidism (not necessarily Hashi's). At

the time I bought that because there did not seem

to be anything else to attribute it to.

What it is, is a feeling that I cannot get enough

air...so air hunger fits. A deep yawn corrects it.

So...I have the Hashi's diagnosis, seem to have

symptoms of MG = 2. You said three. I'm guessing

the others you listed below are it.

Thanks and Happy Thansgiving,

Abbey

Asthma has only recently be recognized as autoimmune, and it is not

usually listed in Hashi's " family, " although it could be. The common

list includes: Type 1 diabetes mellitus, ’s disease (adrenal

insufficiency), vitiligo (loss of pigment of some areas of the skin),

systemic lupus erythematosus, pernicious anemia, celiac disease,

inflammatory bowel disease, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis and

rheumatoid arthritis.

A recent study suggested that RA should be removed from the list.

Since this is all " risk assessment, " there are no guarantees.

Sorry,

Chuck
