You could just ask to draw blood a day or two before the appointment. That way your doctors would have the results when they see you, instead of days after. The snapshot cortisol test is time sensitive, but the response to ACTH should be about the same throughout the day. It is an artificially induced response. The snapshot only detects gross anomalies. A more sensitive approach is 24 hour urine collection. The ACTH tests the adrenal response, so it is a good detector of adrenal exhaustion. Guest guest
My doctor has a lab too, and I told him I preferred to go to the one I always go to because I have bad veins and those particular people know how not to cause phlebitis with me. There was no argument about times. I went to an endo last year on someone's recommendation, and he insisted that I have a thyroid panel right there and then, even though I told him I had had a dose of T3 about an hour before. Well, no surprise to me, the test came out with the T3 showing high, and he decided he wanted to lower my dose and add T4. I allowed him to try it (even though it had been tried before), and I got sick again. I will not do this anymore. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge!
