Many hypos find that they can use a multi--they just have to add more selenium, chromium, potassium to it. If your cal/mag is a 2:1 and you're trying for 1:1 (hyper), then just get a separate magnesium supplement. It's really good to have for emergencies. Let me know if this answered your question. Guest guest
Thanks . I'm hyper, Graves disease. So you are saying I should go for 1:1 instead of the 2:1 that is in it? Can I do that by adding more mag? For keeping my osteopenia in remission my primary care doc wants me to have 1,500 mg of calcium per day and this particular brand (other than taking Viactiv candy like cubes) seems to offer this with the least amount of capsules or tablets. And are you saying that iron ( there is NONE in this vit) , zinc (only 30mg) , and manganese (only 10mg) are to be avoided? Thanks.

And yes, avoid iron, zinc, and manganese. 30 mgs of zinc and 10 mgs of manganese will really mess you up. Copper will help with the osteopenia, but most doctors don't know anything about it. Guest guest
If you take iron, then you need copper and zinc to make the iron " stick " . This is one main reason so many people have problems getting their iron levels up. You need the copper for the iron, and the zinc because taking copper without zinc can deplete one or the other. Vit B12 taken without iron, or enough iron in the diet can deplete iron. A lot of hypo and diabetic people are low in zinc, copper, magnesium, iron, selenium, and molybdenum, as well as manganese, and chromium. Here's a very good list of supps, researched and written by a HyperT person: http://www.ithyroid.com/supplement_list.htm Excellent info. Guest guest
You are best taking selenium 200mcgs on its own with food daily, rather than getting a multivitamin with just a little selenium in it. Same with Vitamin C. You need to take at least 1000mcgs (more if possible) daily which you would not get in a multivitamin. Again, if your ferritin is very low, you need to take a strong iron supplement such as 200mgs daily of ferrous sulphate, ferrous Fumerate, spatone or Gentle iron, the amount of iron in a multivitamin is not sufficient. Go to our web site www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' in the Menu and in the drop down Menu, click on 'Nutrition and Supplements'. Remember that most multivitamins contain ONLY the recommended daily dose required by a healthy individual, when you are hypothyroid, you require much larger doses of supplements. Luv - Sheila Can anyone recommend a good multi vitamin that includes Vit C, selenium, iron, magnesium and anything else that is helpful in thyroid disease? Im currently taking Nuti Adrenal extra and I also have a selenium supplement that also has Vit A, C & D and a multi vit with added iron. Im a bit concerned I may end up overdosing on something taking them all separate like this. My ferritin is very low so I do need something with iron in but if there is a multi vit that has everything else in I could take iron separately. Thanks. No virus found in this incoming message. I totally agree – vitamin and mineral supplementation is great but everything works in synergy – I often here of people taking large doses of these things and they wonder why they feel ill. Our bodies just can’t take it. A fantastic piece of work written by someone who has really done their stuff – a lot of hard work went into writing this for us all. Guest guest
H suzanne, I very much doubt that you will find a multivit that has a high enough iron to get you where you need to be- or at least very slowly. I think you will need to supplement iron seperately ( with vit C to prevent constipation) until levels are where they need to be- then a multivit to keep them there. 0> Subject: Vitamins and minerals> > Can anyone recommend a good multi vitamin that includes Vit C, selenium, iron, magnesium and anything else that is helpful in thyroid disease? Guest guest
To be honest decent multivits such as Sanatogen are really for healthy people if that makes sense. This is why nutritionists make their money and people like Dr P advise differently. I have always been told that ordinary but good quality multi-vits only really have enough to prevent scurvy and stuff like that. Not only Iron but anything that they contain, such as Zinc, Magnesium... it will all be less than what you would be recommended in proper adrenal supplements and thyroid supplements, or taking a sincle supplement etc. I take 4 high dose Vit C 1000mg each a day. Zinc tablet Selenium tablet 2 Q10 (a multivit won't contain it). 4 Nutri Adrenal Extra. Spatone Iron Sachet 5mg. This is low but still more than what you would get in a multi-vit. I want medical advice about taking the right amount and if it's not enough, finding an alternative gentle iron iff applicable and will post about it in due course. All of these contain far higher quantities of their ingredients that you would get in an ordinary multi-vit. You might find mult-vits that contain Vit C, Zinc, Selenium, and iron etc but in my mind it's just a spot of the stuff, rather than equivalent to a professional quality supplement. All this has been professionally advised by the way. Fiona.

Guest guest
You can try adding Yoli drinks to your diet. Yoli is an all natural organic vitamin drink. Better than other vitamin drinks, it is not sold at stores only through distributors. It has no sugar, no preservatives, no artificial coloring, no chemicals. The formulaiton is a strong antioxidant mixed with Acai, Goji,Pomegranete, Resveratrol, White Tea, and Live Enzymes. Take a look http://bci.goyoli.com They are having a limited time promotion right now and you can get 24 bottles of Yoli for FREE. You do have to input your name, email, and phone number on the website to see all of the information and informational movies. Guest guest
Vitamin D3 needs to be taken as a supplement AFTER you get tested to see where you are. The rest can be gotten in a hight potency multivitamin pill.   As for food, eating lean chicken, turrkey and fish, an egg a few times a week, high fiber from whole wheat and whole grain bread as well as veggies (which must be cooked, since all the crucifierous veggies are goitrogens) and some fruit as well as fat free milk and a good yogurt should do you fine. Use olive oil instead of animal fats, use grill pans so any fat can drip down, use chicken broth to saute, use plenty of salads with olive oil and garlic dressing with no preservatives or make your own.  That about does it. <>Roni Immortality exists! Most of these come as individual supplements, without C, although you can also find mineral combinations, particularly the metals. Do not exceed 200 mcg of selenium per day, and take the others at least four hours away from your T4, since they will interfere with absorption. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear the supplements help. I have a friend who had afib. She went to an afib clinic in Jkvl, FL. and and had a procedure done. For the first month or so, she still had incidents, but after that there were fewer episodes and more time between them. Now she hasn't had one for at least a couple of months.
