Ok - got the scoop. I called the mortuary and found out that the

family hasn't been in to make the service arrangements yet. The

earliest they will have the burial will be Tuesday, so I called the

florist back and told them. They'll handle it with the local

florist, so our peace lily should be considered ordered now.

Ian,

Whats going on with the day rates... 6000 pounds would be better!

I cant believe that there are RGNs out there on this list, that would take a

one off trip for that.

this industry has been taking the rise out of us for years, thats why we are

paid so poorly compared to other trades. do you see other service hands

having the same problems as medics do regarding Terms and Conditions.

The only reason why they get away with it, is because a lower grade of medic

is prepared to take the job on and alas this is reflected on us all. The

amount of times I have heard from agencies saying, thats what the client

wants, our hands are tied, we would love to give you more money, but.

its crap, if medics keep taking the poor wages, then they have only got them

selfs to blame. its about time we stood up to these people. and we can not

do this until we have a professional body to represent us.

Couldn't help but add my 2 cents worth.......

I agree that the rates are not fantastic but for us medics down SOuth

they are a lot better than ourlocal rates. ( +- R10 000 per month)

And it is an opportunity for some good cash. If a desire to earn a

better wage than my local rate makes me a " lower class medic " then so

be it.

Hi Dave,

I had my implant done the 3rd of this past August - I had quite a

lot of discomfort and " aggravation " with it at first - it's in the

upper left quadrant, and I'm boney <grin> ...

In the past week to ten days it seems to have stablized and I'm

almost able to forget that it is there - except for the occasional

" itch. "

Coincidentally, my daughter took me back to the ER with pains in my

shoulderblade, shoulder and down my left arm on Oct 29 - they ran

all the tests and x-rays and found nothing amiss. But they did send

me home with Tylenol and Codeine for the pain. I also have some

numbness in the left arm and in the very tips of the fingers on

my left hand.

Hang in, it gets better.

Hi guys,

I've had a little longer to adjust, I had mine in February. I have

the barometer syndrom. It aches when the weather changes. I have

found that dry heat helps a lot for that. But I haven't found

anything for the itch.

hi dave,

it might be time to talk to someone else about the troubles you are having.

when i had my implant, that was it, over and done in 40 minutes and not a

bit of trouble ever since (a year and a half ago). no pain, just a wee bit

of itching.

some docs have learned techniques to make things much easier on the

patient, or not leave scars, and other docs just dont care....as long as

the job gets done , it seems the suffering is supposed to be worth it.

When I got my implant, the EP said that people with little body fat suffer

more pain because the pocket has to be formed beneath muscle rather than in

the area between the fat layer and the muscle tissue.

there anyway of finding a endo doc that will give the test in the

I am researching this right now but from what I am gathering there are a couple of key components to overcoming the RT3 - I have an interest in this because I have a rT3 of 405.

1. Iodine to create hormones - normalized function.

2. Selenium - Created / activate the Deiodinase (D1, D2, D3)

3. Zinc - Needed in the proteins of the cells to utilize thyroid hormone and ??? still working on this.

4. Glutithione - for which selenium is needed - helps to detoxify the liver which is key in rT3 issues as the liver is usually overloaded hence conversion issues.

5. Adrenals - cortisol creates an issue with increasing rT3 levels. I have seen loose references to the adrenals needs for Se.

It isn't in isolation. I know that on other groups they are saying "flat out" no Se with rT3 but I am not convinced. Dr. Brownstein uses liver detoxification and diet to clear up rT3 with sucess. I am doing the liver detoxing right now.

more info

I currently take 62.5 mg Iodoral and companion supplements. I am wondering how important selenium is to the protocol. It was suggested that I may have an RT3 issue but I have not had a chance to be tested. So when I read the following I became concerned that maybe I should rethink selenium. Would the lack of it affect the body's ability to utilize iodine?"Selenium is known to improve conversion of T4 to T3, so it's also going to accelerate conversion of T4 to RT3 if you are making too much as it is."If a person has an RT3 issue, how should we handle selenium supplementation? It's time consuming because you have to read the research articles. Since I do research I have access to a lot of the databases and it takes time to track down abstracts.

But I am motivated since it is my health and I am at a VERY low point in my health right now. Having a hard time functioning both physically and mentally. I need answers.
