,

What a sweet thing to say but so true :-). I am sure you will like

Lifelift so much. You will see results in such a short amount of time.

It's a benefit but it's so great just feeling healthy again. I don't

worry so much about the weight anymore because I know that will come off

in time. I am just enjoying the breathing process, especially since I

quit smoking last summer. I notice such a difference when I hike now or

climb stairs. It's just a joy to have you aboard!

Hi Carol

People come and go. This is the summertime and many people go away on holidays.

It sometimes becomes very active and other times, very slow.

Maybe you can stir up some people to help you if you try again. Part of the

problem in answering your question is that we aren't doctors and don't know you.

So the answers must be somewhat generalized. Try asking something off topic and

see if you get any response....(I'm a sh-- disturber in case you didn't notice).

I'm glad you were open to my questions. I like to have you come up with the

solutions, given the right questions and information. That way you understand

why...

Hi all,

Can someone help me, please? This list is not very active and I'm

wondering if another list is more active? I read almost the first

2000 posts at this site and they've been very informative, but it's

not an active list. Kate - thank you for your comment. From your

comment, I don't think I have stabilized yet. If I stray from a good

diet, I feel bad and my heart goes faster. Your comments were helpful.

i understand the feeling of subcribing to mailing

list, hoping that everyone will be able to shed some

light whenever there's any questions.... and the

frustration that comes when you can't get any....

I have subsribed to many mailing list on

electronics... and the same thing does occur now and

then...

and i have found out something similar.... any list

will be active when there are off topic questions, or

questions that are extremely basic...and then you will

see the eagerness of people providing answers...

for example, the most i can share is what i have went

through after having the illness, anything more than

that.. i am lost...

Sometimes we get active and sometimes not so active. I am on the atomic

women list, also. if you want to check it out. It is the same way but you

might get some different thoughts on there.

Hi Carol,

This list hasn't been active in some time. I had forgotten about it until

re-starting my groups after a vacation. , who started it, is

temporarily focusing on other medical issues. Most of the members moved to

graves_support at groups or to the Graves' site with medical disorders on

www.mediboard.com. Some people also post at the hyperthyroid forum on about.com.

Atomic

women is also a good board. Each of the boards has a slightly different focus

so you might want to browse them. Best, Elaine

Thanks for the redirection. Needs to be done. Too when I

get a little to worked up over what may be another person's opinion

or what I feel is harmful behavior I tend to think about damage

control and too what it will take to repair the negative. It

becomes to overwhelming however and the negativity isn't worth the

time investment for me.

So I'd urge folks to expend the energy where it will be most

beneficial and most positive for the autism community. We also have

to realize that giving heed to folks that think in this manner is

allowing them the power to voice such things. It's not worth the

time for these lists.

If folks want others on both ASA and Unlocking Autism to know how

you feel, write their boards and CEOs letters regarding your

concerns. peak out when you attend their conferences.....they do

need to know that folks wihtin this thought process are not speaking

for our kids.

Not going to assist much here really though. These folks also have

a right to their opinion because they think folks like us, seeking

what will be best medically for our kids, are trying to cure

them....not happening.....never has and folks need to get over it.

But we on this group won't make that happen.

Just my two cents,

Carolyn

Just how are parents supposed to learn about these things, to inform

ASA and UA of their concerns, if we don't share the information in

venues like this?

I agree Ricci. I had no idea these people were even out there. Nor did I know I offened someone by treating MY child how I see fit.

I agree about using this list to share but we are also in a crisis

mode with the ramifications of Katrina...and I don't think UA or

others can deal with much more. I'm sure is dealing with daily

crises and trying to help so many. BUT, issues of violence or harm to

others is scarey (posts copied here re:ND) and should be dealt with.

I also think contacting them with concerns is the way to go..but the

timing right now may not give it adequate concern.

It's important to address it Ricci and share the info I agree. But

that could probably be accomplished within a couple messages. But

too this is just my opinion.

I must say that this info has enlighted me

as well. I had no idea. It all comes together now, as I’m quite certain

that a mom from a homeschooling/aut list I am on who says she, her husband and

son are autistic, is part of the ND crowd. Though I don’t hear the ill

will from her or the anger at all.

I couldn’t understand when parents

would ask about chelation why she would automatically start spewing out info

and links from Barrett and quackwatch, which would refer to other forms

of chelation and for heart disease. I usually respond with the fact the

Barrett is also on the board of ASAT (Association for the Science of Autism

Treatment), it is a heavy ABA board apparently here in Maine. I learned early on when I joined that list that she *hated* ABA. I’m not a

huge fan myself, at least for my child. But that comment usually diffused her

frequent quotation of Quackwatch.

I really can understand adult

autistics concerns. But I don’t understand their hatred and anger. It is

a fine line. I love my son no matter how ASD or NT he turns out to be. As

parents I think we can figure out how to balance accepting our children for who

they are, and helping them be all they can be.

, I had RTKR on Nov. 15, & I'm delighted with the results

so far. Yesterday I found myself bopping to the music in our

favorite bagel place, bending my knees like I never had

arthritis!

When I suddenly got desperate because neither of my knees would

work & I was going upstairs by wrapping both arms around the

banister & hauling my body up, I forgot all about my fears & the

general creepiness of the idea of implants. The whole

experience has been quite gentle. I had hoped to feel human

again when family come for the holidays: they start arriving

today, & I do feel quite human & ready to enjoy myself. Have to

get lots of rest--I caught some virus that had me down with

fever & chills this week-- & forgo housework, but I can always

sit & talk.

I had the support of a friend who had a TKR last year, & that

helped a lot. You're smart to be looking for other folks'

accounts of the recovery period.

: I'm also an "A" type personality, am pretty good at dealing with pain, and am pretty stubborn at overcoming and recovering from obstacles as quickly as possible. I think these qualities will get you through the rehab process better than any other qualities. I'm happy to hear that you have gained enough information and insight to encourage you to have the surgery. I think a lot of folks are scared of the surgery and only think about the negative or scary parts and forget to consider all the many benefits of the surgery, including getting past the horrible pain we've had in our knees. Also, the surgery and recovery are temporary and there is light at the end of the tunnel, whereas if we don't have the surgery the pain is permanent and deteriorating. Best of luck to you! So a few weeks ago I joined this, and a couple of other related lists. This list is GREAT! I have learned a lot about TKR, far more than I'd ever thought

was possible. And I admit to being not just hesitant, but terrified of having this surgery. Now, my feeling about it, is that it will probably be a good thing in the long run. I'm also an "A" type personality, am pretty good at dealing with pain, and am pretty stubborn at overcoming and recovering from obstacles as quickly as possible. I know some of you are scheduled for this procedure in January, and as you are able, when you get home from the hospital, I would really like to hear about the surgery and your recovery period. I think since I joined, Bill is the only one who has had the surgery, and I have really apperciated his account of the process. Thanks Bill! And thanks list! Much appreciated.

I didn't learn from a book, I just did research on the internet.

I'm sure you'll know a lot more when you're done with that. Many (if not

all) of the terms you're confused about are explained sooner or later.

Hi Bobbi

I'd recommend Mandy Aftel's Essence and Alchemy for most terms and

techniques necessary to begin natural perfumery. You'll probably find out

most about CO2s in our archives.

>I promise to read the archived messages between Christmas and New Years.

That's a nice way to spend time over the holidays. Don't forget to save

stuff to your harddrive for offline reference.

Just want to say I am grateful for this List.

I read here because in my experience with this List there is less chance of

getting harmful information. That is because ego-trippers, who have become

medical professionals on the Internet without the benefit of education and

training are challenged, along with the stealth marketers who use them.

On other Lists, I have observed one person, at least, who ended up with diabetes

from using their own protocol, then blamed it on doctors for not warning them.

Another person died, can't give any of the details that was very hush, hush, but

right up to death this person was handing out information. It's the hush hush

part that *should* make people question.

So, thanks to those of you who don't allow these self-proclaimed medical experts

and stealth marketers to go unchallenged.

Abbey, your post is truly a much needed breath of fresh air. I try so

hard here [as do others] to present evidence that will help hypo

patients make informed decisions about their health. All too often we

who do that are met with massive disinformation, closed minds, lack of

any real knowledge as to how the physical universe functions, along with

a total lack of any interest or ability to change those things. Thank you.
