Guest guest
The only thing I would say is to be very careful of what you take and make sure you know all the ingredients before you take it, as well as how much of each T3 and T4 is in the new drug you choose to use. On the other hand you can get T3 and T4 separately, and have your doctor tell you haow much of each to use. This would be a personalized formulation for you only. <>Roni Immortality exists! I prefer *Thyroid ERFA* from Canada as my first source and *Thiroyd by Greater Pharma* for my second choice. I prefer the Thiroyd over the Thyroid-S because the S has a shell on it like m & ms.. The Thiroyd will melt under your tongue just like old armour. It is just as good, if not better, than Armour thyroid. Jot

Guest guest
You may want to consider switching doctors. If you can get the doc to write for Armour, the Canadian Drugstore will fill it with Erfa. I've had a couple of docs that insisted on Synthroid even when it made me feel especially bad. I fired them both and went to someone who cared more about taking care of his patients than prescribing the most marketed drug. This isn't a negative against you. I just spent a lot of time sick on Synthroid and saw symptoms immediately disappear when I switched to natural. I pray that I never have to go back. Good luck, > > > > > > Jot > > Thanks for the info...might look into the thiroyd as with the Armour I cut it up so I take it during the day instead of all at once. doesn't sound like Thyroid S that would be possible. Guest guest
Some might disagree but in my opinion no. I found the texture similar to new Armour but not as bad. I think NT also contains quite a bit of cellulose. I think it is somewhere in between. I am using Erfa which I love. Guest guest
Wish I could get EFRA but can't get Dr to cooperate.. will only prescribe synthroid. I'm afraid medical DRs have contributed greatly to our negative thyroid epidemic in the world.....If only I had a magic wand...I'd do everything I could to change that. Buy a pill cutter at Walmart for 2 dollars and you've got the world at your fingertips :0) You'll feel so much better once you get going on the dessicated meds....and I wish you good health. Guest guest
How do you get your rxs of Erfa on line? How long does it take? There are many Canadian Pharmacies which you can go to online for Thyroid ERFA. Just fax your script into them. I'm not sure if I am allowed to put up links for them here, so if you want to email me personally, I can give you a few. JOT
Guest guest
Is NatureThyroid like the old Armour formulation? Please can anyone answer this question.Thanks. My experience with NT was not so great. It doesn't dissolve under your tongue so it needs to be swallowed. I don't find the same rate of absorption with the NT. With me, meds work better absorbing through the mucous membranes......It also did not have that *kick* that the others have and so I never felt quite right. It just didn't work for me. It's all a personal choice with what works best with each individual body. I know people who have great results with NT, but it didn't work for me. Guest guest
My method for taking the new armour or Naturethroid is to break it up with my teeth and then put the pieces under my tongue. Guest guest
Your problem is that you fail to follow up your statements by citing references. If you haven't got references, you should not post information. The information you have posted is incorrect.. The belief that hypothyroidism is best treated by levothyroxine -only (T4) is based on opinion only. Treating with T4 alone is not, and never has been, based on solid scientific evidence. To this end, the effectiveness of thyroid extract versus synthetic thyroxine should be compared in furtherclinical trials, especially involving problematic patients – as was first shown in a 1932 study comparing levothyroxine and desiccated thyroid extract in hypothyroid patients.[1] There has been a recent study in the UK comparing levothyroxine with natural thyroid extract that showed hypothyroid patients who remained polysymptomatic on T4-only treatment who were switched to Armour thyroid extract became biochemically euthyroid and completely symptom-free.[2] Ref: 1) Willard Owen , Lawrence L. McLellan, Phebe K. , and Lois F. N. Dickie " The rates of utilization of thyroxine and of desiccated thyroid in man: The relation between the iodine in desiccated thyroid and in thyroxine " . Guest guest
By your criteria you certainly shouldn't be promoting dessicated thyroid from which both T4 and T3 have been removed; basically a quack product. You certainly don't have any credible reference supporting that. And I don't need a peer reviewed publication to point out the lack of support for your recommendation. I actually composed a far more extensive response but I happened to read Chuck's post before I finished it so I'm deleting the balance. I think he addressed your distortions far better than I could have. Despite my lack of ability to quote much if anything in the way of credible research I remain convinced that for some percentage of hypo patients Armour is probably a better choice than T4 alone. IMHO it is unfortunate that it is so difficult to obtain in the UK. .. > > Posted by: " SheilaT " sheilaturner@... > <mailto:sheilaturner@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20Experience%20with%20%22oth\ er%22%20thyroid%20meds> > campaigner77 <campaigner77> > > > Wed Feb 17, 2010 5:05 am (PST) > > > > > Your problem is that you fail to follow up your statements by > citing references. Guest guest
I have never even heard of Armour until I started reading this group's discussions. I have been taking Thyroxine for around 15 yrs now. i have my blood test done yesterday as it has been 12 months since I last have my levels checked. So I thought I would be more vigilant from now on Next week I will actually ask to see the results which I never have before.
